parkin is our best striker over the last decade fact!!!

if you were to take say bobby zamora who is without doubt a brighton legend
then look at his stats not including sub appearances
125 appearances / 76 goals

compare that to parkin down the page (very similar)

who knows how many more goals fjortoft would have scored for us if he stayed but if he is a legand then so is parkin

had some time to kill so here are a few players goals/appearances tally's
fjortoft goalscoring record in a town shirt
75 (+12) appearances 39 goals

parkin
135 (+7) appearances 73 goals

grazioli
50 (+38  ) appearances 18 goals

chris hay
77 (+24)appearances 30 goals

craig maskell
49 (+10) appearances 27 goals

dave mitchell
73 (+7) appearances 24 goals

duncan shearer
195 (+4) appearances 98 goals

steve white
252 (+60) appearances 111 goals

peter thorne
76 (+15) appearances 32 goals

wayne allison
117 (+3) appearances 36 goals

jimmy quinn
125 (+29) appearances 61 goals

dave bamber
134 (+3) appearances 46 goals

peter coyne
125 (+12)appearances 41 goals

colin gordon
81 (+2) appearances 33 goals

andy rowland
335 (+10) appearances 98 goals

alan mayes
173 (+11) appearances 83 goals

don rogers
487 (+3) appearances 178 goals ( i know he was a wing forwad )

very good Kaufman.

At least half those players scored goals at a higher level than Parkin though.

yep very true but he still had to put away the chances.

fjortoft was the better player but parkin is still a legend.

not about who you play against its what they did for the  club while they were here.

both were fantastic! but i think that parkin will remember his days here more so than fjortoft will.

fjortoft was an international already when he joined us.

nobody knew parkin really when he joined us and the fans got to see parkin mature and become a better play with each season.
i remember the fans being so proud when he got that scotland call up.
was never the same with fjortoft.

When he arrived he was the "new Ian Rush".  Unfortunately we sold The Chief and he stopped scoring (maybe coincidently, maybe not).

Very much a confidence player. Where iis he now?

it was Parkin's attitude which always impressed me so much. he also had a genuine soft spot for STFC

Was up in one of the lower league Scottish clubs until recently ... Stirling Albion I think.

For me the likes of SSP and JAF are heroes....to get to legendary status requires something a bit more....so very few make it....among goalscorers....Harold Fleming, Harry Morris, Maurice Owen and Don Rogers.....of recentish players....Steve White could be argued about for elevation to the pantheon of legend.

I'm not sure anyone's ever made my bum moist.

On a related topic though, I did try some moist toilet tissue the other day (it was on offer). Can't say I felt any cleaner mind.
