It has been announced today that Swindon Town football club will be erecting a statue of a town legend outside the Town End at their County Ground home. Fans will be given the choice to select which former town favourite should be immortalised in bronze forever from a shortlist drawn up by Billie Piper, Melinda Messenger and the late Diana Dors.

One of Shaun Close sat on the bench in a bolier suit with his arms folded would look good though. Surprised he hasn't got any votes.

Please feel free to suggest any players or managers you'd like to see immortalised. Better if you describe what the statue would look like.

Nicky Hammond, bending down picking the ball out of the net. OR Nicky Hammond kicking the ball straight to an opponent OR Nicky Hammond taking an almighty swing at the ball and missing!
