It seems to me that there are some Town fans who spit blood and wish injury, plague, pestulance, seven years of bad luck or worse on any player daring to leave the hallowed marble halls of the County Ground for *gasp* ANOTHER CLUB!!!!! :jaw1:

To be honest, there’s a hell of a lot of players I could not give a flying fuck about and by reaction to them leaving can only be described as ‘meeeeh!’ The latest of these being Aaron Brown preceded by Sean O’Hanlon and a few weeks back, Rhys Evans. It’s not that I think these players are crap necessarily and in some cases they served the club very well, they’re just no great loss and were or will be very, very easily replaced. I don’t think of any of them as ‘Judas’, I don’t want their houses to burn down, I don’t want them to die of bubonic plague, I won’t boo them if they come back to Swindon with their new team, I JUST DON’T CARE!

So here is my all time ‘meeeeh!’ XI (It wasn’t difficult, there were plenty of non-entities to chose from!) A lot of them are no longer playing of course but if any the others do come back to the CG, I personally will greet them with total indifference.

GK. Rhys Evans ….meeeeh!

RB. Mark Robinson….meeeeh!
LB. Robin Hulbert (not really a left back but then meeeeh! who cares)
CB. Sean O’Hanlon….meeeeh!
CB. Jon Gittens….meeeeh!

MF. Dave Bennett (Poor fucker, breaks his leg, is out for months, then breaks the OTHER leg in his come back game, but still, meeeeh!)
MF. Steve Robinson (Ooooooooh, controversial, quite popular but another ‘meeeeh!’ from me)
MF. Peter Holcroft (sums up the McMoan era at it’s lowest depths….meeeeh!)
MF. Aaron Brown….meeeeh!

ST. Shuey McPhee….meeeeh!
ST. Peter Thorne (Absolultely tremendous when he arrived at the club but did fuck all in his last 6 months consequently he went down in my estimation to nothing more than a ….meeeeh! by the time he left)

Subs: ‘meeeeh!’ can’t be arsed with subs. There’s too many to mention.

I prefer the more short and sweet "meh"...

The only players I've cared about leaving in the last 7 seasons is Sam Parkin and Tommy Mooney.  Other than those two, I don't think we've had many real club legends or players who could be considered invaluable.  Other than Neil Ruddock of course...

GK Steve Book

RB Andrew Gurney
LB Adrian Viveash
CB Sean O'Hanlon
CB Gareth Davies

LM Aaron Brown
CM Grunt Sniff
CM Big Brian Howard
RM Sammy Eyeglue

ST Jamie Cureton
ST Steve Cowe

None of which I really detest to any great extent, all have done a job to some extent and some made more a dignified exit than others but overall completely impassive to their departures.

Says it all when the circumstances of their departure created more of a wave than the actual departure of the player.

Might sound a touch harsh, but I'd put Migs in there as well.

How the hell is Gits on that list? He's a legend!

OK I'll grant you he had a few odd little characteristics, namely:
* a funny high-pitched voice
* a tendency to yell TIME! for no obvious reason at the top of it a dozen times a games
* a tendency to take opposition players off at the knees if they strayed into a specific area of the pitch wih the ball (just outside the penalty area and slightly to the left)

But he was quick and tough tackling, and we haven't had a CH partnership since that comes close to matching him and CC.

(And he didn't ask for a transfer but went in the fire sale after the whole Macfiddle relegation debacle)

So meeeh to you too!

Migs definitely not!
And Turbo I was sad to see leave.
I also think people are jumping on Seano's back just because he went to MK. He was a decent player and I rated him. It seems people on this forum think he was poor but I'm sure they will stil be complaining if we receive £50k compensation for him.

And I would like to see Evans still here. Having said that I will not be booing anybody this season purely because they left Swindon, unless their name is quite similar to the word Money.

Gittens was a strong player in the centre of defence, and formed a great partnership with Colin Calderwood in his time at Swindon. Was a bit (!) rough at times, and was always likely to be booked or sent-off.

That is how www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk describe him.

Just to clarify, I'm not necessarily saying that those players were rubbish, I just wasn't bothered when they left - Meeeeh! they come and go Cool

In actual fact, I'd probably be struggling to name an XI of players who I was bothered about leaving STFC.

I think I feel another thread coming on :?
