http://www.thisisstfc.co.uk/News_Headlines_Story.asp?NewsID=5643THE demanding pre-season programme is not only proving beneficial for the first team squad at the County Ground.
While Dennis Wise has a carefully planned, structured session to prepare for the League Two campaign, it isn’t exclusively for the senior players.
Ian Woan’s under 18s have been ‘enjoying’ pre-season Wise-style as well.
The youngsters won 2-0 at Brentford on Saturday in a pre-season friendly with an injury-free Andy Caton among the goals.
Wise said: “They’ve been doing our programme (of fitness).
“I was speaking to Ian Woan and he said the young lads looked very strong in beating Brentford.”
As for Caton, the 18-year-old certainly made a strong contribution against the Bees.
Having opened the scoring he was fouled for the penalty that allowed Chris Allen to tuck away goal number two.
Caton (pictured relaxing at training yesterday) said: “I really enjoyed it. We had three 25-minute periods of play. It was great to be involved in both goals.
“I felt tired afterwards but no problems apart from that,” he added.
