Well England will never have a good manager untill they win a tournament it seems.  Can't see McLaren lasting long then Cheesy

exactly. whats the bloody point in getting to the QFs?? no awards are given for 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc place. if you dont win the cup, you have failed. simple as that. no team would go to the tournament saying 'oh, we're a bit crap, a QF place would bea great result' you are out there to WIN it.
well the germans were quite happy to come 3rd, but then that's all they could hope for really considering the strength of their side.

sven didn't just have one chance at a major tournament though, he had 3 and messed up all of them.

International and club management are two totally different animals. You cannot deny that erikksn has got a very good record as a club manager, and for all his critics, has not done to bad as manager of the english side. He took over England when we were bottom of our group, and not looking likely to qualify. We'd stunk out at euro 200, and only bloody drew with finland for fuck sake. 3 major tournaments, 3 quarter finals. That loked a mile off 6 years ago. His tactics are a bit one dimensional, and he is a bit defensive, but his match-by-match record as ebgland manager speaks for itself. If it were a league, then england would be right up there near the top. Like it or not, results wise, Erikson is one of our most succesful managers, and without him, Englad may well not be the team they are at this current moment. My personal opinion is that he stayed on for 1 tournament too many, but overall, he has done alot to change the state of England football for the better.

I think Man Ure may come calling for him.  Fergie is over a barrel with the Ronaldo and V Nistelrooy situation.  The Glazers want to keep them both, and I think if either of them leave the Glazers may have a long hard look at replacing him.

Don't Chelsea play 4-5-1, and haven't they just won back-to-back titles?

I don't care. I hate this 'one up front' shit. I would love it if a top coach had the bottle to play 2-3-5 with left halves and inside rights, wingers, the lot. It would be worth doing just for the shock value!
