I think it's a good move as Roberts has a responsibility as a senior squad member and now a leader at the club.

Could be inspired.

i think he will dave..wise seem to be backing him to the hilt.when andy king first heard of roberts drink problem he took the piss in front of all the players.in all fairness if he does perform very well this season we got iffy to thank for it in a way.the way iffy dealt with him was brilliant and fair play to him for that..i would imagine roberts felt for a period he wasnt really wanted by anyone god knows what this can do for his confidence..fair play christian i couldnt be happier for him

Surely Roberts will still be number 18, it's his lucky number. Remember when he changed from 14 to 18 to help him (allegedly) play better

I'd sooner Roberts was vice-captain than Nicholas.

Yeh Roberts will be 9 next year. Wise has said he expects 20 goals from him (Gazette and Herald) and that he wants him to take responsibility. Sounds like just what Christian needs to get him back to his old self.

Roberts being made vice Captain sounds like quality man management to me.

Coupled with the bet, Wise is clearly trying to give him responsibility and drive to not just stay off the drink, but to furfill his undoubted potential.

For my money I think it will work, so much so I'm going to have a few quid on Roberts being our top golascorer next season

too right, promoting roberts to v.captain is an excellent piece of man management. i should imagine the reason why roberts drink became a problem was boredom, lack of self belief, no drive and no targets to aim for. this should hopefully give him back ambition and drive and the better training should stop the boredom. i guess peacock and roberts will be a great striking force next season, lets just hope they stay fit
