For fuck sake the guys 20!! And he was sent off for the push if you watch the reffs actions so dont know where the fuck this gay stamping bullshit has come from. I may be wrong but i only recall him being sent off twice in his career, not too bad of a record considering hes played for four seasons.

So you are playing in a tournament that has had the most red and yellow cards issued ever. You are also playing against a team that tends to dive and winge at everything. You have a South American referee, which culturally are more hot headed than Europeans. You are playing in one of the most important games of your life. You are one of the most important players in your team and have the ability to score and help your team advance. without you, your team's chance of going through is greatly diminished. Do you:
a. Concentrate on scoring a goal or two so that you can rub your opponents noses in it at the end of the game and take all the accolades for being the youngest and best striker in the tournament ?
Or:
b. Take a chance and commit two sending off offences within 10 seconds within 5 yards of the referee, for no gain whatsoever other than making yourself look a thug and risking being sent off, which will make it incredibly difficult for your team mates to progress in the tournament, end some of your 'friends' international careers, result in both yourself and your 'gaffer' being crucified in the media and jeopardise your future international career ?

So at what age do you learn that a stamp and a push are fouls in football ? I thought it was when you were at Primary school rather than after you achieved international stardom ? NMH

Yes all of this went through his head during this 10seconds, he carefully thought about each option, and after weighing them both up he decided to select the second option

Yes i was defending Rooney because I thought he wasnt aware that a push was a foul  Anyway wake up it was hardly a full on shove to the face, yea he was wrong to do it but you can hardly classify him as some hot headed liabilty. With out doubt the guys got a temper but i think through out his career hes generally used this to his advantage making him one of the most competitive players around. Like I said hes only even been sent off twice. If he like say for example like Alan Smith in his younger days, was picking red cards up a few times a season for lashing out you could point to his temper as a liabilty or even if hed ACTUALLY ala cantona on Moncur stamped on the guy then threw Ronaldo away then you call his temper a liability. Although i do agree Rooney was in the wrong and can see why he was sent off i stil beleive the whole thing was a bit harsh on him

i said i don't think he stamped on Ronaldo. i can't see his foot raised and then come stamping down on CR.
ala Cantona on Moncure(sp) that was a stamp. Roonies wasn't.
and i can't see how a bit of passion is wrong. he's the only fucker with it yet people like you slate him for it. Bollocks. Terry, Becks, Hargreaves, Gerrard, Rio, Robinson- they were crying their eyes out cos they didn't give a fuck? Carragher lay face down for an hour because he has no passion? I don't think he stamped on Ronaldo either, never said he did. I would say he stamped pretty fucking hard on Carvalho. Yes Rooneys got passion but he's like Gurney, most people confuse passion with being a mindless no brained thug. don't be fucking pedantic Dave you know what i meant. :wanker: also your talking bollox. He wasn't even sent off for the so called jump/stamp (as you put it) so even the ref obviously thought it wasn't a stamp and more accidental. So therefore your the one who is wrong. and even the shove wasn't really a shove. he never fell over or anything so he couldn't have done it that hard.

Excactly, this Rooneys a thug liabily is really fuckin moronic. And like you said the 'stamp' shouldnt really be an issue considering the ref wasnt even going to book him for it.

NMH or look at it another way and put yourself in his shoes he WAS sent off for the push he wasnt even gonna get booked for the so called stamp. the rules will actually show that ronaldo should of actually got booked aswell as it is a bookable offence to ask the ref to book another player.

It also annoys me how Figo only gets booked for headbutting a dutch player but Rooney gets sent off for a slight shove. The Inconsistency’s in the punishments given out is a joke. Not that the figo incident has anything to do with Rooneys im just having a moan

He isnt at all, The referees whole actions change the second Rooney pushes Ronaldo. Hes stood there not even makin eye contact with rooney, seems to be waiting for the Portugese player get back to his feet. He does nothing to even suggest he was going to book Rooney. Then the push happens and he instantly begins to push him to one side and started reaching into his pocket. That what i saw anyway, what does eveyone else think? Granted you cant read the referees mind so he may well have sent Rooney of for stamp but you cant conclude that from what the footage suggests.

That's what I thought. The stamp was a bit open to interpretation and until you watch the replay it looked like he could have been attempting to get his balance after being dragged back by the two Portuguese players. In fact when I saw it I thought Rooney had been fouled. It’s only in the replay where you can see that there’s some force behind his boot.. Players surrounding the ref, the player writhing around like he’s just been castrated and then the push probably made up the ref’s mind where before he may have got away with a yellow.

The video footage certainly suggests that Rooney was sent off for the push, as Danny says the ref wasnt taking any action until Rooney pushed Ronaldo.
Whats to stop the ref telling the press that he sent him off for the "stamp" once he's seen the footage, when he had infact sent him off for the shove.
