It was a 2 year wasn't it? But he left after one?
I'm just saying, any man looking after his future and family would do the same. End of the day, it's just a job.

From what I've read - Mooney claims he was shafted by Oxford in regards to the 2-year contract and was only given 1 year.

Like I said on thisis, if he was to return and bag 20 odd goals then fair enough. But he would never regain my respect and I could never bring myself to chant his name. EVER.
I couldn't - could I? NO.

I couldn't - could I? NO. I could, he's come out since and said that going to oxford was a mistake. I'm quite a forgiving person though. Like jesus.

I thought Mooney was shafted over by us and left partly on principle. I seem to remember he was originally offered a 2 year deal around December time which he was happy with but did not sign there and then, when the deal came to signing he was only offered a year.
I have said before I would happily take him back as he still has a lot to offer, particularly in this division. Grit, Balls, Determination and the ability to put the ball in the net.

Now we may have a Bob or two and a Monkhouse and a Roberts if that counts as a Bob but I can't see how the same board that refused him a two year deal are now going to cough up a transfer fee a few seasons on.
Even getting past the transfer fee they would probably have to then better his wages and he'll probably want another two year deal.
As Bob would say opportunity knocked when he left the Pox and given the age I can't see it being the greatest of moves. He'll be 35 or there abouts come the start of the season and there are surely younger players who would involve a fee and similar wages out there who could manage around the 17 goal mark he got last season.

No, not never, no way. I won't even go into what he was like as a player, or what he could do for us now. That's all irrelevant, I just couldn't stomach it.

i'm torn. very torn.
i loathe(d) him for going to oxford. it was the thing that just finished me that summer.
however, he's proved himself capable of scoring in league 2, he was undoubtedly an excellent goalscorer for us in 03/04 and he's even said that going to oxford was the worst move he ever made.
i don't think i can forgive him.
i also think there must be someone else out there capable of getting 20 goals for us next season who isn't 35 and called tommy mooney.
