Wow ! What an explosive game. The US commentators made alot about the poor performance of the referee and not much about the game itself other than the fact that Van Basten didn't bring on Van Nistelrooy.
Felt that the Dutch were very unlucky not to have a penalty or two in the first half. Great strike by Maniche for the Portugal goal.
Gotta feel good for England seeing Ronaldo limp off, Deco (Portugal's best player of the tournament imho) missing the next game aswell as Costinha. Hopefully that will mean that Portugal's defence will be less organised and their attack blunt !

great match, but the ref really needed to stamp down earlier and the game would have never got so out of control. he should be sacked for that performance, abysmal.

 That was a game and a half. Made me laugh when it showed the three players that had got sent off, all sitting on the naughty step together watching the game. Looked so funny.

Two more should have walked as well - Figo for his "headbutt" and Sneijder for his push.
If the ref was intent on setting a new record, why stop at 4 sending-offs? Surely he wants a record that no one can beat.

I'm hoping that Fifa look into that headbutt. He should face disciplinary and miss the next game at least.

It shocked me a bit, I did'nt think Figo was the sort of player to do that :? He always seems so calm and collected. Probably just a heat of the moment thing, but still thats no excuse.

I presume Figo got his yellow card for the headbutt though; even if the ref didn't see it at first.
If that is the case then I don't think Fifa can do anything as the ref's acted on it. It's only if the ref misses things that Fifa can then make decisions on it.

Why are we running scared of Portugal-wanting Figo to be banned? We've had our fair share of luck already, its a bit pathetic to be desperate to get Figo banned like most of the Talksport presenters are this morning

He's still good on the ball but I think he is now what Raul has been to Spain for a while (until this tournament in Spains case), in that he stifles the team play. He gets too much of the ball when they should be doing what Portugal were good at (when he was a bit shrper) and that's playing at pace. Ronaldo could be a threat to us, so if he manages to get fit in time I'd suggest a sacrifice Yellow Card of "testing out" his injury.

Personally, i'm not all that bothered about Figo, well over the hill these days....

fifa can do what they want, and they've decided not to take any further action
