A new album, 'Suite XVI', is due out later this year. It will follow 'another' greatest hits album. 'Suite XVI' will be their 16th studio album, while this year marks 16 years since their former lead singer - Hugh Cornwell departed the band. Furthermore, a tour starts on Saturday.
However, that is not the rumour ! The rumour centres around the 'new' lead singer. I have heard from several different sources, that the lead singer wants to concentrate on other projects including his new band 'Soulsec' and that the Stranglers will be returning to a 4 piece vice 5 piece band.
Now, you have to understand that some people never accepted Paul Roberts as a Strangler. Over the years the bloke has received so much stick it is beyond belief. This may well be a malicious rumour (as there have been several in the past), but the people I am hearing it from appear to be 'in the know' rather than from the anti-Roberts camp.

It is no longer a rumour. The Stranglers Mk IV have been born. Former lead singer Paul Roberts is no longer a Strangler.
