taken from their local rag

Grant Smith - Signed last Summer as one of BT's magnificent 7, Smith was utterly awful. A left footer who preferred to play in central midfield he was immediately placed in left midfield because we lacked anyone else to play there. He was shockingly unfit and slow, couldn't tackle and neither did he track back. Oh the beauty of a decent, long contract to fall back on. Johnson soon shipped him off on loan at the first opportunity and he ended the season at Walsall. He actually received some good reports from his time with the Saddlers and scored a few goals including a brace at Tranmere and it was looking likely that they would have signed him permanently had they not suffered relegation. Smith gained the lowest, and by some margin, average rating of any player last season. Johnson has placed him on the transfer list. Ave rating 4.50

4.50 is the lowest rating in the squad

I remember that because they made such a big hoo-haa about signing a proven left footed winger you had to wonder who they were talking about.   Cool

:--  Unlucky smithy mate.

Thing is I've always thought smith was better than heywood. Heywood seems to be doing okay there.

Heywood was underrated by many Swindon fans.

He was slow, but won everything in the air and made few errors. I'd take him over Ifool every time.

Yeah I see what your saying, but it does not matter what position they play in - you should be able to see whos good and whos not. We have had skillfull defenders, but heywood was not one of them. He used to hoof it! Smith had a bit of composure and skill and was a good controller imo.

of course it matters, play Smith and Heywood centre back and you would say Heywood is better, play them both left midfield and you would say Smith is better

Obviously I know that. Errrr I know what I mean. I just never thought heywood was anything special, quite a dull player.

HE'S A TRADITIONAL CENTRE HALF!!!!  What do you expect Matty H to play like?  Pelé?  Solid as a rock, he's fallen out of favour at AG, I'd have him back if he were available!

Yes

I'd drive down there and pick him up for their training ground.  He'd be ace in L2
