Judging the animal rights movement as a whole on the basis of the few warped sickos who dug up Gladys Hammond is like watching a documentary on extreme football hooligans then condemning all fans as scum on the basis of it.

The whole Gladys Hammond thing has eroded any sympathy I had for activists

That was without a doubt way too far.Personally i thought most of them came across not as fuck heads, but as people who had passionate belief in what they are doing. Most of them seemed normal to me,its just because it was a documentary all we saw of them was the anger they had.

Sorry Larwood but there was nothing normal about those people interviewed last night . Im not going to go into to much detail but i have had dealings with these Activists and they are not pleasant people . I struggle to understand how the girl who had a curveture of the spine can link a failed surgical procedure to assumed animal cruelty ?
What price do you put on a life of a mouse ? Are these people telling me that they would refuse medical treatment on a loved one if it had involved animal testing in the pre clinical trials or vaccine developement and production ?

Brilliant quote on one of Ricky Gervais' shows on XFM.  Carl the thick sounding northerner was stopped by one of these anti testing drugs on animals people, anyway the woman explained that she was against any testing on animals so Carl replied "what about if that monkey did have a headache though, would that be alright?"  apparently the woman went off on one.

To be honest I'm pro testing on animals, the advances of medical science has been astounding in recent years.  Not that keen on the cosmetic testing though, I think we have enough beauty products to keep us going for a while without feeling the need of spraying 6 cans of Linx africa in some puppies eyes.

i personally know some people who are into animal rights, they are not extremists in any way but caring people who speak up for the rights of animals.they condemn the actions of the extrenmists as it does their cause no good at all.
my personal view is that all medicine has to be tested on a human eventually so why waste time testing on animals.comparing humans to rats, rabbits ect is ridiculous and all this does is line the pockets of the companies carrying out tests on animals as they are subsidised by the goverment.penicillin is one example of a drug that killed animals.oh and fox hunters are the scum of the earth fucking hate em

Wasn't Penecillin an accidental discovery? Didn't think it had anything to do with animals, just a messy scientist by the name of Fleming...

why is it ridiculous testing on animals? The guinea pig/hamster toxicity thing is often quoted out of context. Remember this is science, logical and refutable - emotion doesn't usually help in toxicology tests.

If the animal rights hippies want scientific testing on animals stopped - fine.

We should use the hippies instead.

I agree that they take it too far sometimes, but some of the work they do is for a good cause.  Animals can't talk so someone has to stick up for them.

The ones that follow fox hunting do my head in, I have seen them hit horses with sticks, yet they think that hurting animals is cruel - stupid cunts

Very weak arguement and you know it.

Fox hunting is cruel and is also now illegal get over it.

Oi you cunt, I have not once said I agree with fox hunting.  I can see it from both sides but agree the way the fox is treated is cruel, and I am glad it has been banned.

I'm happy for animal testing to continue. The more risk taken out of human drug trials by first testing on animals is fine by me.

I hold human life above animal life, rightly or wrongly.

Totally agree Birdy. Medical research testing is a different kettle of fish. Badger hunters are the biggest bunch of cunts known to man ,if i ever catch them on my land i will happily empty both barrels into them .
