ok, last night i was wired to the core, couldnt sleep one bit. then this idea came to me.....ok, as i see it parkin has had his worse season ever due to injury and not settling in etc. so, i would imagine that hes not going to be there first choice striker come the beginning of the season.

so why not enquire about getting him back in on loan for say 1-3 months? maybe august to 1 november or something. positives: 1. he'd probably end as our top scorer having only been with us on loan for a bit. 2. would put another few hundred on the gate- fans favourite 3. rediscover his form and go back and play a blinder 4. he loves the fans, we love him etc etc 5. might give the team the boost of confidence they need to finish the season off

i know you lot will slate this idea but why not give it a go Huh??

Personally I've been hoping for exactly that since he left. He might be just what we need to start the season.

Problem is (and I'm not slating the idea) while it would be great from our point of view, it doesn't do much for him - Ipswich are getting a new manager and Parkin will want to be around to impress him. Getting shipped out to a basement club on loan when the new guy comes in is basically just another way of saying "Your career here is over, but we paid money for you so we're hoping that if you do well on loan we can persuade someone to cough up a fee for you". Not an attractive prospect for SSP. That said, if he isn't getting a regular starting berth under the new guy, it might seem a whole lot more attractive by say Xmas, but even then I'd have thought he'd want to go to a League 1 rather than League 2 side.

We need a striker who'll stay though.

yea, i guess the idea has a number of flaws...wasnt aware they are getting in a new manager....who is he? i wish luck to the guy, would really like to see him playing well at a high level. but, i really dont think coming back here on loan would be a step back for him. think of the psychology of it...he would be back in familiar surroundings, at the CG, where he scored many a goal. its that connection between him and the ground where he scored so many great goals that might get him banging them in again. then, once his confidence has given a much needed boost he goes back to ipswich and plays a blinder.

and giving us 15-20 goals in the process!  Cool

I have been thinking exactly the same thing, especially with his current struggles. Even if it was for one month, it would give him, the club and the fans a huge boost.

I wouldn't rlue it out as I'm sure he would choose us over a lot of clubs of a similar standard, although I can't see it happening. Worth a shot though definitely!

thats the thing, i genuinely believe he loves this club because it was here that his professional career really took off, it was us (king) that took a gamble on him, and for that reason he caught the attention of a big club. if we start well, and ipswich consider shipping him out for a while theres no reason to suggest he wouldnt want to come back for a bit. in fact, i think hed relish the prospect of playing infront of his adoring fans for a bit. just imagine what it would do for your confidence if you were him!

Pleeeeeease let it happen. It would be great to see SSP back in a town shirt.

Can't see it hough, as has already been stated, he will want to impress the new man.

Ih a month or so passes nad he isnt getting games it would be worth trying though. I can't see a reason whyu he wouldn't want to come back unless there was a bigger club offering at the same time.

A lot of our problems this season have been due to relying on loan players...we need to get our own players, working for us not someone elses players trying to do something for themselves.

Sorry to piss on your bonfire, but if Parkin was put up for loan...there would be probably about 4/5 Champions clubs intereted, all of League One as well....

Sure Parkins heart would probably chose Swindon, but his head would say I need to be playing at the highest level possible

No wouldn't want to see....we've got to regroup and try and develop our own  players....the likes of Lukas, Holgate and possibly Caton need games to develop.

With only 2 down this league, it gives a bit of leeway

You're all nuts, move on and forget Parkin.

It'll never ever ever ever happen anyway.
