lets look at the facts

1. Holloway knows Power & Devlin from QPR

2. Has only ever managed in Bristol & London, Swindon would be perfect so he could stay local

3. You wouldnt have thought Power would put in £1m and keep Iffy as manager who has managed for 3/4 of a season and been relegated

4. Was on Football League Review and said he would manage in League Two

I'd say its not a bad shout, but its all rumours that will never materialize in my opinion. Maybe i could see him having a consultancy role to Iffy at the most but im not convinced Wink

If you was Bill Power and u put £1m into a Football Club would you be happy to keep Iffy as manger who in all fairness is very tactically nieve and just not good enough, Or would u rather bring in a manager who u have seen first hand at QPR get them promoted to the Championship?

A million will be about 100,000 by the tim eIffy has time to spend any, Power's money is just prolonging the clubs financial death. Keeping our heads just above sea level so to speak.

That may be what you heard, but it's very different from what's been said by both the club and Power himself, which is that is a 1 mill investment, end of ie covering both on and off-field. Anyone who thinks we'll have a million to spend on players is deluding themselves

Hasn't Kings cut already been munched from the pie?  Add to that the suspected loss of 200k MD mentioned the other day and we're down to approx 650k.

Slam some of that on operating costs over the summer and during the season and I can't see there being much left.  I'd suspect if the wage bill is increased back to the level of last season there would be a generous 300k for players?

Total guess work but after you've allocated wages for additional players I can't see there being much in the way of actual transfer fees.

Hope so though any money spent will be an absolute total bonus.   Beers

In order to get a player of some ability, who may merit a transfer fee, certainly if they're dropping down, then you'll need to pay matching wages.

In L2 there is a cap based on turnover, because we get low crowds,  there wont be much money for wages...so its almost certain we wont "buy" anyone.

However the upside of Power is that unlike this season when at times we've fielded 4 or 5 players who other clubs have been paying the wages of....and even in recent games at least 3 loan players, we may be able to afford our own players, which would have to be a good thing.

There's actually the same cap in operation in League 1 Reg, but obviously you'd expect the attendance to fall next season. Interestingly there are plenty of teams that don't abide by the cap.

It’s 60% of turnover but there's ways and means of working around it such as bonuses, percentage salary increase and signing on fees.  That said it’s all a bit short sighted to be going down that route.

I suspect the reason so many of our recent transfers have had to have League approval is because it has taken us outside or close to that figure.  Provided though the club can show a revised budget that funds are available to cover the expense then away you go.

I think but I’m not sure if Power’s money is a loan then it can’t be taken into consideration in your 60% if he receives shares then it can be.

What was our turnover in the last accounts anyway?

"Football already runs a voluntary salary cap in League One and League Two where clubs cannot spend more than 60% of their income on players' salaries"
