isn't there a great deal of ambiguity over the formation date?

This one comes up time and time again.
But as we celebrated the 100th anniversary in 1981 it makes sense for the club to stick to that date.
We played Ipswich that year who'd just won the UEFA Cup in a celebration/friendly match, maybe we should get them back for a home friendly if we have any this pre-season.

And they gave us a china model of a Suffolk Punch, a sort of shire horse. Subsequent boards have used it as a template for centre halves....this board broke the mould when Benji signed.

Hello mr website address.
To be honest I'm not bothered about the historical details, the club could probably do with something to celebrate. Who cares if it's the 125th or 127th, but an excuse to celebrate the club's history would be nice anyway.
Of course it does bring back vague memories of my first year at uni, when I think that exeter got relegated to the conference in their centinary year. pretty harsh.
