Then surely, you must be rather suspicious of a Welshman playing for us, not to mention the South African and the Indian

It's a conspiracy. England are going to move and franchise the name to Wales  Soapy Tit Wank

Couldnt believe the amount of Scots and Welsh in Mumbai.

Its is the England and Wales cricket board. I guess they wanted to start games in Wales on the right note. Not just some half arsed friendly or Bangladesh - an Ashes test.

But as Spuddy says, Southampton surely deserved it more. 22,000 seats? Only ground worthy in the south other than in London? Good cricket area. Had to be Southampton. Surely?

Could I point out that the England cricket team is actually the representative side of the England and Wales Cricket Board, including both English and Welsh players.

But England and Wales wouldn't have the same ring to it as the name of the team, and I say that as a Welshman.

It's the England AND Wales cricket team playing in Wales. sounds fair enough to me. The E in ECB is an abbreviation of England and Wales

We English have a long and honourable tradition of trying to bring civilised behaviour in the form of cricket to the often uncouth and uncivilised backward peoples of the Empire.

Sadly we failed in Australia,  maybe there's hope for Wales yet, to upgrade from Third World status.
