Hoddle can fuck off for all I care. He'd never come back to us, he's way too above himself.

Yeah what a cunt getting us into the premiership and signing some of the clubs all time legends. :? Even if you don't like him as a manager, he's one of the greatest players that's ever played for us.

I'm in the strange position of agreeing with BWB and disagreeing with him at the same time.

He's right Hoddle is a fine coach. Some of that was fucked up by his slightly wacky personal philosophy of life, but anyone that thinks he was shit as England manager might want to go back and look at his record in competitive fixtures.

Venables team might have looked more creative at times but they had the advantage of having Gascoigne when he wasn't a basket case. Hoddle had nobody to replace him as there was a complete dearth of players that could both pass and dribble. (Imagine what he could have done with a squad that included Rooney and Joe Cole.)

However, as far as him coming here is concerned:

1. There's not a fucking prayer of it happening is there
2. I'm not sure how well he'd do at this level, or a rung down. When he was here before he inherited a squad that Ardiles had built on good footballing principles. (It was thinned out a good bit by the enforced sales after the relagation farce but Hod was given the resources to fill in the gaps.)

Final thing - I can't believe those of you that are STILL antagonistic towards him because he committed the crime of leaving for another club. It was what 15 years ago. Get over it. If you carry a grudge for that long, then at a club like ours you're going to spend virtually every game screaming at someone on the opposition side and you'll end up like that dribbling loon that used to hang about in the Townend.

I've no doubt that there is basically no chance at all that he'd ever come back that's true, if by some miracle he did though I'd certainly be more than happy to welcome him back.

It was meant a bit tongue-in-cheek when i said he'd definitely take us back to the premiership, because that would be an incredibly difficult task, I do think he would be very succesful in this division though and I don't think promotion to the championship would be too unrealistic. It's all hypothetical though of course.

1) I like Glenn Hoddle. He did the business with us... So, he didn't stay. So what! He went on to better things. Colin Calderwood didn't stay when we would have been better with him at the back in the Prem. We love him still though! (granted years more commitment)

2) I doubt there is anybody who could turn us around with the current state of the club.

I fucking love Glenn Hoddle and would welcome him back with open arms.  The man is a genius, and I will be eternally thankful for his time at our club.  The memories of those seasons he was in charge will live with me until the day I go senile in a old folks home, even then I hope I'll go on about Glenn, Colin, Martin Ling, Micky Hazard, Fraser Digby etc, as my bemused reletives crowd around me.

You forgot Dave Mitchell Jan, I'll never forget that Hoddle inspired hat-trick he bagged at St Andrews.
