Couple of today’s scandal rags have reported he’s not set or a new contract and will depart in the summer.
A bit harsh IMO as he’s slowly turned them round and has got them sniffing the arse of the playoffs like a Jack Russell.
I’ll ask the inevitable, should he, could he ever come back?
Got to admit although his stock has dropped I can’t see him being to short of offers and I’d wager a Championship or lower Prem side will soon snap him up.

Hoddle is a great manager, he got us there last time and has had success at loads of clubs including I would say Wolves. They would be foolish to not offer him another contract but if they don't they'll be plenty of clubs after him and with his wages we wouldn't have a chance anyway but he is definitely a Swindon legend.

The big question I always ask is would we have gone up if Hoddle was just a manager, because at the time he was still a class above on the pitch. On the occasions he didn't play we did still do ok i.e. Newcastle at home, though I doubt if he didn't play there would have been games where we wouldn't have picked up anything.

i love the bloke and think he's an absolute legend but there's no way he'd get us back to the premiership now, not with the club in the state that it is.
i doubt we'll ever play at the top level again and we'll only ever briefly flirt with division one status.

I think he could turn a few things around but the Premiership is a long way away. Survival in League One is the first stage, and then looking towards the championship but realistically the next 5 years will be no higher than that

Don't be so pessimistic. This is just a minor blip. We may not be back for a few years but a great club like this one will one day be challenging for the top flight once again even if it's not for some years.
Hoddle is not likely to be the man to do it though but it would be great, similar to how Redknapp has been revitalising Portsmouth, most of them weren't too happy about him coming back but they're coming around to it now.

We need a manager who can retain our league status next season, which is going to be an exceedingly difficult task....its not a job for a Hoddle.
Might as well stick with Iffy, he wants to prove himself, which is probably a good starting point.
We are currently signing up some of the players who have performed so poorly on a consistent basis this season....and little prospect of new blood outside of the usual flood of loans and maybe the odd kid playing some games.
I'd like to think Paul Smith could get fit and sign up for a year, but at his age the type of injury he has can be what causes retirement.
