Hello everyone.

The Trust originally suggested the idea of holding a post season 6 a side, adult, football tournament to raise funds for the Community Office at Swindon.  They have been receiving grant funding but part of this is due to finish at the end of this season.

The concept is a tournament held on the CG pitch with a provisional date of the 27th May.

Already have a few people who have started the ball rolling but thought it would be good to check if anyone has experience of running a large football tournament.

This would not be a L&P event, it's just the guys at the Trust are run off their feet.

Please let me know if you can.

Also anyone who wouldn't want to play but would be interested in volunteering their services for the day.  Don't have any real details at the moment but an idea of numbers would be good.

I like the idea, the problem I find is this sort of thing should be for the supporters of the club, not some flash cunt who fancies playing on the CG pitch once a year.  This should almost be a way of the supporters putting something back into the club and the club's way of thanking the fans for having to put up with watching a lot of shit through the year.

Also bank holiday weekend???  A lot of people go away on BH's, mayb e better to pick a normal summer weekend.

27th May is the only date we can get the CG pitch.  It's booked before and not available for pre-season and concert reasons after.

I mainly see it being a supporters event and will largely be targetted towards fans - I for one will be playing on the day and leaving the org to other people!

Haven't really sat down and worked through the details yet, most likely 24 teams due to the logistics of getitng the games completed in a day.  I'm going to bug STFC about getting a players team (possibly yoofies) and also a legends team.  Not sure either will come off but worth a try.

Fairly sure I've bitten off more than I can chew, again, but it should be fun.

I played at the Country Ground a couple of years ago in a 6-a-side tournament with work.....I got the biggest laugh of the day... I was clean through one-on-one with the keeper, only to take a swing with my right boot, accidently knocking the ball away with my left peg mid swing, missing the fucking ball completely and falling over.....generally looking a complete cock! I look back and laugh now though, but at the time, with approx 200 people laughing at me, I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me (so to speak).

I would play, but it looks like there is plenty of people that want to....ah well....

Hope it goes ahead all the same, as it would be good for the club as well as the fans.
