I am alive and well thank you darling. There's not a lot to say really is there?

We're crap
We're skint
We're going down

There's a limit to how many times you can say it or read it.

Thanks for thinking of me though honeybunch.

I can start off a non-footie thread if you like.

Here we go.

I went to Dublin a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty ace.  Going into massive packed pubs without a single whisp of smoke in them was, for me at least, a totally orgasmic experience and I can't wait for the ban to come into force over here.

A little bit of controversy on a Friday afternoon for you

I social smoke and I'm 100% in agreement.

Dublin is superb the smell of the pubs is something else when you walk in.  It took me a while to put my finger on why the first bar after the smoking ban seemed so strange until it clicked.

Plus you can go on the pull outside having a crafty tab and I cut down from my usual deck of 20 (although at least 8 are usually stolen by mates) to about 4 in the night and barely noticed.

Only downside is the proper pubs smell like old man piss.

You find it expensive OST?

£100 minimum for a decent session

They do a bit but it's a real struggle to find a proper old school pub in Dublin.

If it's not a 'bar' then it's probably going to be an uber clean, efficent drenk house turning over the tourist Punt.

We managed to find one old school bar in central Dublin  and it was fantastic.   Cool

Hmmmmm....old man piss....can't say I noticed that

Dublin is certainly not cheap but it's not over the top expensive either. I suppose it's a tad cheaper than London. If you really hit the black stuff it will set you back a few quid that's for sure. Talking of which, much as I like to expose urban myths for the bollocks that they are, I have to admit that the Guinness is indeed 'better over there'.

I'm talking pubs with carpet, old man and dog stylie.

Only thing that got me was one bloody barman poured my budvar in a half pint glass with ICE.

Bloody ice. Sad

Agreed. Guiness sold in the mainland UK is brewed under licence somewhere in London. One of the core raw ingredients differs from that brewed in Dublin - the water - hence the different taste.

Found this on the guiness site

Welcome home. GUINNESS® was first brewed at St. James’s Gate over two centuries ago. Today the Dublin brewery produces GUINNESS® Draught for Ireland, the UK, Europe and the United States.

Not saying it doesnt tast different though, maybe they keep the good stuff.
