Well it can't be tax on your loan pc from work, cos I mentioned that, how about the reduction in tax break if you invest in Venture Capital Trusts??? From 40% to 30%?? The temporary increase 2004 to 2006 to encourage investment was 40% and that was due to be reduced back to to 20% in April 2006 (as it was originally), however this has been increased to 30% relief. i could list all the reductions in taxes and amendments to EIS limits etc but I can't be arsed

Come on you cannot call that an increase in relief, although they may have planned to have cut it to 20% but then decided to increase it to 30%.
He should have announced that income tax would go up to 50% for higher rate payers then next year when he decides not ot increase it, he could state he's cut income tax by 10% and left it at 40%. Political bollocks.

it was never going to be cut - its always been 20% relief increased to 40% for 2 years on a temporary basis rather than letting the rate of relief go back down to its normal level, an interim relief of 30% (ie 20% + 10%) has been introduced most venture capitalists are thrilled to bits its not gone back to 20% as they werent expecting an extra 10% relief from April Did I mention the limit for EIS relief has increased?

Good morning budget watchers.
I didn't realise that the 40% relief rate was only a temporary one, thanks for that.
I have now noticed that Landfill tax has gone up.
I've gotta say this budget's been a pain in the arse for us lot, our entire investment IFA 's are shitting themselves!

Although I must admit it's not the most entertaining thread that's ever appeared on this site.

Landfill Tax has been on a rising scale for a few years now. This is one of the reasons your council tax goes up.
Recycle more though and your council pays less landfill tax, simple.

Landfill tax is going to go up every year until 2010 where it will be £35 per tonne (if the government stick to the plan). Cost of compliance is also an issue so it costs even more than this to comply to the landfill tax.
