anyone been made better or worse off then?

as far as i'm concerned the inevitable raise on beer and cigarettes is always to be expected, but good on gordy for cutting road tax for us considerate drivers and whacking it up on the remarkably annoying SUV morons with their poncy public school attiudes

Not a great budget.  More Inheritance tax problems for the population, not that it affects me (other than at work) but it might one day.  Also bad news for people who are loaning computers from work with a view to by as there's a 20% tax on the value of the machine now.

The tax on 4 by 4's has pissed me off a little as I personally think the agricultural workers have it quite tough anyway.

I'm pleased to see that you childless tee-totallers out there will be stung yet further to subsidise my drinking and child-rearing. Thanks!

I think people should be more concerned about where all the extra money Brown has promised is going to come from (sale of assets/debts etc.)

Indirectly IHT, the threshold has gone up by £10,000, by the average house will go up by more than this over the next year, also ways of getting around IHT has been hinded by Brown's trust tax changes.

Oh didn't realise it had to be an increase from the budget.

Tax on your second company mobile phone?

oooh good call  Smiley

but an extra company mobile phone for a family member who isn't a company employee is not really something that affects very many people and in fact is just closing a little loophole that was being exploited

Well it can't be tax on your loan pc from work, cos I mentioned that, how about the reduction in tax break if you invest in Venture Capital Trusts???  From 40% to 30%??
