i'd agree with that. His main job is to assist the other striker, which he does do EFFECTIVELY. yes it works

The thing is though the commentators always say "he's not great in the air" so why bother playing him then seeing as his main asset is height? he's not great with his feet either especially for england he'd not even get on the plane with me to germany.
or am i being too harsh on him?

I'm sure BWB would have agree with me, you're being rather harsh. I must admit, he seems to have trouble generating much power on headers, kind of key in front of goal. But he is a useful target man, and i'd have him in the England WC squad. See Argie game recently, for evidence that he would be very useful for a late surge forward to try and salvage a game.

He is different in what he does, no other England forward can offer what PC does....thats why he is going to Germany....not because he is a top class centre forward if you get what I mean. Still, hes scored 2 tonight, only against Birmingham....

or am i being too harsh on him? Which commentators? he's great in the air and he's also very good with his feet so you are being too harsh and it's definitely a quality from me. Makes me laugh when people were suggesting James Beattie was a better alternative to Crouchy because he doesn't score enough a few days ago but Crouchy has now got two more goals than Beattie this season.... He's a must for England, especially on current form - 6 goals in 9 games. For the world cup the definite strikers are Rooney Owen Crouchy and it's the others that are still up for grabs. I think that sonic youth sums up why people don't rate him but if you judge him on his football he's well worth his place and importantly a completely different option from England's other strikers.

Crouch v Beattie on saturday morning. Beattie has played 2 less league games but has scored 10 goals (10 in 21). Crouch has 5 in 23 in the league.
