Long shot, but does anyone know if its possible to find out when they actually take the pictures for the Google satellite map thing ?

I only ask, because there is a huge field of untouched snow outside - on the very slim chance that it was in the next hour or so, I reckon with the help of some beer and a few like minded friends I could go out and stamp "ARSE" or something similarly purile in 50 foot high letters in it...

Unless I'm underestimated googles access to sattelites then they are probably taken pretty rarely.

You could get lucky of course.

1. When were these pictures taken? How often are they updated?
Our images are photographs taken by satellites and aircraft sometime in the last three years.  The images in Google Earth are updated on a rolling basis. Click http://earth.google.com/images_dates.html for more details.

There was a story in the adver on Friday saying they'd updated Swindon. Just had a quick look and you can certainly see things much more clearly now, not as clear as Bedford is though and you can't get in as close without it going blury.
