maybe the others should help him out more, or maybe our defence could try talking to each other....

Surely our captain should be bossing Ifil and telling him who to mark.

First things first. He's old enough now to have got to grips with the responsibilities of being a central defender. We're not talking about a twelve year old kid here.

Secondly Sean O'Hanlon never has been vocal enough to be Ifil's on-pitch carer. This season he's had to worry far too much about his own game to have any spare capacity left to think for Ifil.

As an aside I never have thought of Sean as a captain.

No matter how good, or old you are you still need someone to organise the defence, even if its just to double check everyone is marking who they are supposed to....we lack a defender with enough expirence to do that, we need an older head...another Alan Reeves if you will.

I do agree than SeanO isnt captain material, I dont think we have a 'captain' in our squad to be honest.

zonal defense.
Are you American?

It was never my intention to pass myself off as an American, but I can see why my butchering the English language might lead you that conclusion.

Paul Smith could be a good captain.

main word is 'could'...

Dont see why not he has gone it at the Jills for years, the only problem is....that will not organize our defence. We still needed an expirenced leader in central defence.

I agree that you need a leade at the back. In my limited experience of football, it makes life so much easier....especially when it is me!
If somebody is checking that everybody is marked then it makes life easier and it makes it EASIER TO CONCENTRATE if you are given a man to mark

Ifil is supposed to mark everyone!!
Just be satisfied with him marking his own man properly for a change.

You mean like that Nathan Tyson guy who scored 0 goals on Saturday....
He wasn't marking Tyson at set pieces. How many goals did they score with free headers in our 6 yard box while Ifil was on his heels ball watching instead of getting in amongst them?  Same goes for Sean.

The point is R4E, that Ifill is a proffessional footballer who probably earns the best part of £100k a year to defend. you are not.

If he needs someone to tell him exactly what to do for 90 mins then he should give up now.
