bit suprising to see that it was only a one year deal as most ppl were talking of two. has been playing well this year and deserves it.

It takes him through to his 24th birthday where he can then leave on a Bosman without the other club having to pay us compensation.  

The case for one year deals is superb where you have new signings who may not work out or the more senior player but when you have somone like Jerel who is young and a known quantity even with our financial problems there's a strong argument for offering at least a couple of years.
