I didn't see the lad play but from what I've heard I'm not surprised we let him go. It's a shame as he came with rave reviews (I believe the fee was an initial £80K plus add ons which unfortunately won't now be activated that could have taken it to £1m), but then again so did a load of other kids signed when Arnesen became director of football and none have come through. As has been said our youth set up has not been great in recent years with only O'Hara, King (and Steven Carr until he went to 'bigger club' Newcastle) coming through in recent years.
However we now have Alex Inglethorpe in charge of the academy who is highly rated. There is some good talent there (admittedly poached from other clubs) in John Bostock, Dean Parrett and Danny Rose. There are expectations that they will come good.
