After the big disappointment that was Pro Evo 08, a couple of screenshots have been released for the latest installment of the game, although they don't show any actual "in-game" screenshots which is a bit annoying as these are the ones that really matter

I'll wait until i see gameplay footage/reviews before i make assumptions. 2008 was a little dissapointing but still so much better than Fifa (as ever). 2009 should be a good one though as i feel Konami have learned from 2008.

It's awful. The gameplay is slow and nowhere near as smooth as PES. It's better than Fifa 07 though but that wasn't hard.

Both PES and FIFA have gone well passed their natural lifespan of meaningful updates. Someone needs to do something a bit different.

nice one. not sure what further innovation you can have to a simulation of a game with set rules

There is always something that you can do, it just happens to demand greater skill and more time with each iterations. Which Seabass at KCEJ happens to have plenty of the first of but less of the second now that PES has become such big business for Konami.

As for the guys at FIFA their problem seems to be that they either try to redesign everything or nothing. Either they spend money and overhaul the whole game with lots of new box-ticking features or they just update the kits and put out  exactly the same game again. There seems no chance to just refine what was done before.

pes08 wasn't a dissapointment. there's only so much you can do to something (on the same platform) if its pretty shit hot.
