First off an admission....
I work at a call centre that sells accident insurance. It's a crap job but the hours are good and the money is better!
Anyway...
Yesterday, I was just finishing with a sale with a customer and I get up to get a drink when a colleague and mate Tom - spins around his chair and shouts "DUDE" while handing me his headset. "He says he plays for Oxford" - Everyone who knows me is aware of my loathing of Non-League's finest.
I look at the screen and it's one, Mr. Steven Basham - rubbing my hands together and plotting what to say as I take over the sale... and knowing if I say anything controversial it would be Tom blamed and not me... my boss is quick to take the headset away from me and say he didn't think it was a good idea.
Heartbreak.
P.S. Tom didn't get the sale!

But if they are evil... Of course we call them back  Nasty calls are great fun - more interesting than getting sales! |

I had a similar call the other day... Work for an investment bank and Greg Shields of the Mighty Dunfermline Athletic called up. Was funnier in the fact that I had watched him get turned inside out against Rangers the previous day!  |

The only people I've spoke to are bitter 40+ years olds who were released from their clubs as teenagers. I spoke to Andy King's old bootboy at Luton. If you think Swindon fans hate Kingy... If you're a footballer and need advice on your PFA pension, they have to call up the PFA pensions experts - Simon Barker (ex-QPR) who was meant to be joing town once and Richard Jobson (ex-Oldham?)
Bobby Barnes is the PFA's Assistant Chief Executive!
I've never had to call them though.
