Remember the good old days of cash at the gate - then once in the ground you could tell fairly accurately what the attendance once and the nod and a wink when the 'official figure' was given at around 2000 less than everyone knew was the real figure.
Heh heh, them was the days. As I've said before, the 32k record attendance was much, much more. It was absolutely, Kop-swayingly packed even on the Shrivvy terrace where I was.
And did anyone else go to the old Wembley for England games / cup finals with a handful of notes? Those big turnstyles easily let 2 in at a time...and the gateman wasn't too proud to help you in once he saw the colour of your money. Had to wave notes at the 2nd guy who let you on the terrace though. They must have made a fortune.
