Great to get a last minute equaliser and OST inevitably put his head in sometimes where it hurts. Iím trying to recall a Duncan Shearer belting header but the old memory ainít what it used to be 😞

It's quite surprising JJ that HTV West don't have any away footage considering it was a quarter final and against a really big club

AFAIR it was a near post header from a right-wing corner. Doesn't really help much, I know...

Quote
There were 38,000 people at Highbury for this League Cup match, including 7,000 from Swindon. Arsenal took the lead with a disputed penalty in the eighth minute, converted by Alan Sunderland following a foul on Frank Stapleton. Swindon, however, didnít buckle, and with six minutes left to play substitute Billy Tucker, a defender whoíd only been on the pitch for ten minutes, headed in an Alan Mayes corner to force a replay in Wiltshire. Another replay, with the team still in the European Cup Winners Cup, the FA Cup still to come, and a 42 match league season to complete.

Changing the subject a bit....

While having a deep search for the Tucker goal anywhere I found this interesting piece on Swindon by a Forest fan, goes into a lot of detail and is an interesting read.

Gets my vote every time.
What a night that was. Can still see Ian Miller standing next to us ready to take the corner, I saw Billy Tucker in the air, meet the ball and it was like a bullet.
I didnít see anything after that. The Clock End that night moved. Health & Safety out the window :)
It was simply mental celebrations and probably the wildest following a goal. How nobody www crushed as a pile of bodies everywhere.

I got the slipper at school the next day as we bunked the last lesson and jumped over the fence into the cemetery. Caught the early train and the queues were massive even at around 6pm.

Great memories Duke and like you say it was mental at the clock end and after the game we counted over 100 coaches parked up by the railway line which is now the Emirates

OST could have a thread dedicated just to his booming headers.
Watched the highlights of the 4-6 v Brum last night and could have sworn before that his header was off the sweet spot of the bandage that was applied when he had to go off for treatment in the first half.
No sign of a bandage so apparently not. The passage of time muddies the waters I guess.

Must be way out in front for the most stitches applied during a Town career.
One of the Sunday papers had the best description of him, "teak hard".

the crazy result rather over shadowed Maskells incredible lobbed header.

I do enjoy a bullet but this was something else...there is a goal by George Best that does the rounds but this is just as good....one minute in.

Steve Foley against Leeds, 1990, is one I vividly remember, mainly because of the beautiful outside of the foot cross from David Kerslake.
A game that also included a MacLaren thunderbolt special that would make the top 10 of "from outside the area" goals as well.

Billy's edges it because the outcome eventually fell our way.

Strange one but Rory Fallons last minute diving header against Colchester sticks out in my mind, got a feeling it was boxing day 05/06 (one of our many relegations seasons from L1). We were bottom & utter garbage at the time and Colchester were doing really well, and particularly smug about it given they pinched Cureton on loan and he turned into Ronaldo. It was just a much needed win and I remember the celebrations in the Town End being akin to a playoff win.

I probably remember games more from the 80s and up to the mid-90s than practically any of the games that I've been to since (aside from the Di Canio period). Ok, I haven't been to that many since 98, having lived in France since then but I'm sure the football back then was much more memorable, even the early 80s when we were really dismal. Probably because I was younger and more of a fan back then.

Similar to me, I remember almost every game I went to in the 80s and 90s but I moved away and have not been to many games since 2001 when I moved 120 miles away for Swindon, in the years since I have probably only been in person to 50 games in the last 20 years until the advent of iFollow where I have since only missed 2 games in 4 years.

Thats why its odd that I have no recollection of that game at all not even the thunderbolt from the fat controller.
