Title: Fake lawns
Post by: THE FLASH on Monday, February 22, 2016, 19:17:33
Heavy clay and a piss wet winter has left a sea of sludge in my back garden.

Thinking of putting down fake grass.

Anybody know anyone local?

Tips and abuse welcome.

Bought smallish amount from these. Get the free samples to judge. Looked simple to lay but I fucked it up big time.

Gets stained with dog piss.

Still better than mud, mind!

Just concrete it and paint it green. Or, put gravel down.

Sounds like you are halfway to a pool, just dig a bigger hole, go the whole hog.

A lot of us are in the same position.  The winter has been exceptionally wet and mild, so lawns are generally in a shocking state at the moment.  If you don't want the hassle of dealing with your moss and reseeding the bare areas in the spring, then an artificial solution is probably for you.  Personally, I'm happy to deal with this as part of my annual springtime 'to do' list.

We have a man who comes over and does weird stuff to our lawn and treats it and things - he's from Calne so I'll ask my husband who he is

Prices range from approx £18-£27 per Sq m so about £530-£800. Extra for adhesive etc and laying if not doing it yourself

If you're wanting real turf, I paid just over £3 per m2 from some online company. Good quality stuff too, it's wintered much better than my existing lawn which is going to need a bit of work when the weather dries out.
