Having said that, Anybody in the world 2 Pox 0 is music to my ears.
I work with a Pox fan who stopped going to games. So things must be bad for them.

They are really struggling atm. I think they've got enough points to stay up but they need to turn it around quickly. Or not depending on which end of the A420 you sit!

Some of them genuinely think that if they do go down that would be the end of the club.

I remember when we were in L2, some oxford fan on FF was giving it the big one saying how the two clubs are headed in different directions. Well, he wasn't wrong.....

They've become so consistently poor I don't really take any pleasure from their demise. I'd far rather look at the fixture list with them on it, half-built ground or not.

I wouldn't like to see them fold but I would love them to get relegated out of the league totally down to Conference South, as I would with Rovers and the 82ers, the franchise can go bust for all I care.

The only chance of the 82ers going bust is if Lansdowne suddenly stops funding them or their massive yearly loss gets acted on by the FA/FL as effectively cheating their way up the leagues and docks them loads of points and relegates them for financial irregularies....I can dream.

£9.3m operating loss last year, £11.5m the year before, £12.9m the year before that and £14m the year preceding that one with debts of £55m (£35m written off by Lansdowne last year) thats unsustainable and I hope they get punished for it.

Oxford are still averaging 6,100 odd at home this season, which is slightly up on the 5,900 they averaged for the two seasons before that.  I think the predictions are a little exaggerated.

And they're safe this season, for sure.  Over the course of the season the bottom two teams have managed just under 1 point/game, so 47 or 48 points will be enough this season to stay up in that division.  Oxford already have 43 points, so a win & a draw from their final 8 games will probably be enough.

They play 4 teams who are also in the relegation dog-fight, six-pointers if you will.

Then they face Newport county away on the last day of the season. Imagine if Miles Storey scores the goal(s) to send them down!

Those figures have been skewed somewhat by up to 2000 free tickets being taken up by school kids.

By all accounts, if you take away the freebies and any away fans, they have less than 5000 fans.

I think it's something to do with having been in their division for only one season (2011-12) out of the last 14.  In all of the other 13 seasons, we have been playing at least one division above them.  Fair enough, they've beaten us each time we have played them recently...but even the 2011-12 games are become a bit of a dim & distant memory now.

The fact is that the Oxford rivalry does not mean as much these days, especially to our younger fans, as it used to.  We have played them 4 times in the last 14 years; 23 times in the 14 years before that (1987-2001); and 15 times in the 14 years before that (1973-87).  And 14 years before that, they didn't even exist.

They are the cat crap on the bottom of my shoe.
Therefore they should be wiped out/off and franchise are no better.

I would say that despite not playing Poxford on a regular basis, and being in separate leagues, that with their results (or lack of) being mentioned frequently on the matchday threads there's still more to the rivalry than you suggest.

When for example has there been much comment about Bristol Rovers recently? Yet when Poxford were non-league there was still much piss-taking on here. (I still remember the Townend chanting 'Orient' as the Pox were being relegated).

We may not play them often but we still queue in the early hours for away tickets (for me it was from 7am until 12:30pm) and when we do play them it provokes vigorous debate on here. (http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=47122.0)

I think the last pox game I went to was when Beauchamp was playing for them, Mark Walters for us. I don't often bother to look for their results.

The most bizarre feling was when we were relegated and on the same day Orient sent them down to the Conference. One of my happiest football moments.

I don't want the Scum to go out of business but I would love years of misery for them. At least they have fans not consumers of the product. As others have said Franchise I do want to go out of business although inevitably they'd just go out and buy someone like Fleetwood and move it to MK. It would be a very good day for football if they didn't exist. I'm a proud Town fan but our fans stance against MK helps justify my pride.

I was in the away end for quite a few during their "glory years". (Aldridge etc)
(I was at Oxford Poly, although I prefer to call it Brookes Uni now)
Used to go to watch them get beat, but unfortunately they were a very good side, and usually won.

Nearly got a hiding off some Leeds fans who couldn't understand the subtle difference between a Swindon and an Oxford accent !

Me too.  Went once with a Rotherham-supporting mate.  Wore my Swindon scarf to that one, and narrowly avoided getting my head kicked in.  Would have served me right, frankly, if I had.

And went again with a Pompey-supporting friend.  Evening game that time.  Bizarrely, Portsmouth were 5-3 up until 2 mins from the end, and managed to finish it 5-5.

Went in the London Road when Sheffield Wednesday were in every end and confess to supporting the Gas against the scum when they were tolerated.
