  MARK Cooper has hit out at the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy rule which prevents clubs from making wholesale changes to their starting line-ups, branding the guidelines “ridiculous”.

I guess the 5 will be N. Thompson, Ranger, Kasim, Ward and Fods out, with Barthram, El Gabbas, L. Thompson, Branco and Belford in. Would have been nice to rest a few others. Could always substitute someone like Luongo after a minute, unless that's bringing the game into disrepute.

Why does this rule exist for the pointless JPT, but not in the League Cup for example, where Premiership teams play entire first XI's made of youths and reserves?

Thompson wont count towards the 5 as he is suspended.

I don't think coops will change out Wes. Why do that when you've got outfield players who could do with a rest?

According to the adver report he will.  Only allowed to change 5 from the starting line up on Saturday, he will be one of those 5.

But he's suspended? Hardly seems fair.

He did indicate in an interview when asked about Belford that he had the opportunity to give  him a game tonight, whether he will or not we will have to wait and see, but I think he will play him.

But what happens if you have say 2 suspended and then have played Preston the week before and thus have 4 injured by Davies?

So coops is playing the "Its an important competition for the club.....I wish I could rest all 11" card is he. He's a sly one!

I don't mind the rule since it probably attracts sponsors, but the fact the league cup doesn't have the rule I agree is somewhat stupid.

Yeah we got fined for fielding a weakened team against Brentford, a game we won 4-1.

It might be just me, but as I'm going to this game tonight, I expect to see a full team. The feeling of a reserve game/friendly depresses me.

Guaranteed to see a full team. I know it's only Plymouth, but I think Cooper will still have 11 players on the field.
