Got chased by city when they came here years ago. They'd been allowed the townend and were kept in after the game(cannot remember the result )
Anyway, a few Swindon lads had gathered on broad street and as my friends and I used to walk that way to the bus station we hung about too. Their lot came around the corner and ran at us. Obviously as a 15-16 year old I ran into the back alleys. A few of our lot stood and got slapped and it turned into small running battles around the bus station. Think it was a Sunday game.

Eventually they escorted us all to the train station - every side street you could see coppers and shitty having running battles
Every Z hire van was windowless  - most of the riot vans were without windows too

I'm with Darlo on this,  one of the greatest pleasures of football is the banter whether it's winding up the neighbours or celebrating the differences between the regions its all good fun. Regardless of where we come from most of us are there to see our team  put on a decent show and get the win where's the joy in trying to grind someones face into a paving slab either that or talking like an arsehole to make yourself sound like the biggest khunt in a group of khunts. It's a laugh FFS surely you people who want a punch up and supposedly hate every town within a 200 mile radius leave SN1 occasionally without having a nervous breakdown? Surely it's possible to wind up other supporters about football without having to sink to having an argument about who's fists are bigger or who kicks peoples faces in more. We're a proud club with a great (and interesting!) history what we've been through in the last 50 years most other clubs could only dream of we should enjoy what we have rather than sink to the level of council pub prison monkeys

He doesn't recall very well then, they have only taken 4 or more points of us in a season the times in the last 22 years which is 13 seasons of games!

We on the other hand have taken at least 4 points off them on 6 occassions over the same period.

Been there over a dozen times watching Town. I can't remember a visit that was event free. Back in the early 80's it was always fun. Town were certainly no angels when they visited back then. The 1-1 stopping them in the play offs is still my favourite. I managed to get out of the ground at the final whistle, got back to the car and was home before a lot of Town were let out.

My favourite memory of that day was the 4 strong city firm in a ford fiesta at temple meads waiting to take us on and being laughed at.

One of the topics on the Bristol City Forum is called best win at swindle. I had to laugh as they forgot to mention Town winning 4-0 at Ashton Gate in January 1991 :D

Remember many games from late 70's right through to now against Shity.

Have to say over those years we have done fairly well against them.
I remember winning at their place 3-0 and that year they were relegated. (Gary Emanuel era).
It always used to kick off next to that park and we we always escorted by police horses, with one standing on my foot once !!
....and lets not forget Darius Henderson's double.

I remember when Shaun played in one game and there was a clash of heads, he went off to have some stitches put in then came back on with a huge bandage around his head, he then carried on his normal game as if nothing had happened :)

I've just been back to look at Wayne Allison's stats on Wikipedia, and the numbers tell a story.  What a model professional.  How many other strikers can lay claim to have played more than 100 games for 4 different clubs (Bristol, ourselves, Tranmere, Chesterfield) - and more than 70 games at another two (Huddersfield and Sheffield United) - and with a decent strike rate at pretty much all of those?  Not many.

I should also add that his goals/games ratio while he was with us was better than he achieved with any other of his clubs.  I think we had his best years.

I lived and worked in Brizzle for a few years and In remember saying to a Slave Trader that the only palyer I'f have from his team was Allison. he said "dream on" and a couple of weeks later he signed for us. Its nice when things fall into place

I love how they mention we're stuck in the 70's which the last time they were in the top flight this was last time they actually did anything significant, oh they won the welsh cup and the LDV. Seeing their "honours" we truly are the greatest team in the westcountry. Oh yeah and they are grown men who get in Grange Hill-esq fights with people who live in the same town as them (wouldnt the city rovers thing be a bit like penhill fighting park south?

He is one of the nicest politest men in football, when he shook my hand after winning the championship title under McMoan his hands were the size of a bunch of bananas, absolutely massive and I have very big hands but they dwarfed mine totally.
