Title: Amateur Pre-Season Friendlies (11 A Side) Post by: PHIL!!!! on Thursday, June 20, 2013, 17:55:45 I apologise if there has already been a thread created to do with this (I know there was one last year, but I can't be fucked to find it). But here goes.
This thread, surprisingly enough, is for people/teams to begin to arrange friendly matches for their respected amateur clubs. My team, Bassett Bulldogs FC, who play in the Swindon District Saturday League, are currently looking for teams to play between mid July - end of August. Saturday's would be ideal, but I'm sure we can come to a compromise. We play our home games at Beversbrook Sports Ground, Calne (Where the Town are looking to train as of next season). If you could give a few details about your team, i.e. team name, where you play, kit colour, favourite half time cheese etc, that'd be reet grand. So....Who fancies a game? (still going strong at 69) ;)
TBH, you look like a good squad, no overweight passengers etc. Well done on getting a team going from scratch, looks a good set up. http://bassettbulldogsfc.moonfruit.com/#/about/4557499000 Try arranging a friendly with Calne Reserves. (still going strong at 69) ;) Cheers blinkpip for the kind words. We're a properly run and well structured club. It's probably quite sad how much time and effort myself and my friend put into the day to day running of it, but it's great fun. We hand picked our squad so it is like one big happy family, but a decent footballing side to boot. Finished 4th in our first season, narrowly missing out on 2nd, so gunning for top two this campaign! We've had a lot of media coverage also, which is nice :)TBH, you look like a good squad, no overweight passengers etc. Well done on getting a team going from scratch, looks a good set up. http://bassettbulldogsfc.moonfruit.com/#/about/4557499000 Try arranging a friendly with Calne Reserves. Is that the Chiseldon side who play in the Swindon and District Saturday league? If so, nice bunch of lads, bar the prick who throws himself to the ground at every opportunity and play acts... We literally laughed/kicked him off the pitch after a while. Grade A cunt. But like I say, the rest of the lads were really nice blokes who tried to play football.Already had two pre-season friendlies so far unlike most our pitch stays marked out all year. But like I say, the rest of the lads were really nice blokes who tried to play football. Thats us. Tom actually a decent bloke and bloody harmless off the pitch - can be a right dick on it though. However, like the professional level sometimes you have to act a bit to get decisions. He's pulled off some right awful, stupid dives but I've also seen a keeper punch him in the face and get away with it right infront of the ref!! We had a terrible season last year, both out goal keepers missed most of the season. Our top scorer from the previous season hasnt played football for 15 months now due to illness. Inconsistent - looking at how the league finished, bar Old Town we actually beat the rest of the top 4 last season. Title: Re: Amateur Pre-Season Friendlies (11 A Side) Post by: PHIL!!!! on Sunday, June 23, 2013, 17:41:37 Thats us. The lad you had up top on his own is a very good player. Scored quite a few throughout the season, if memory serves me right? Genuinely a nice lad as well.Tom actually a decent bloke and bloody harmless off the pitch - can be a right dick on it though. Inconsistent - looking at how the league finished, bar Old Town we actually beat the rest of the top 4 last season. With regards to us, we don't really have an out and out goal scorer. Our goals are generally spread throughout the squad. We scored 47 I believe, which wasn't too bad for our first season! Gutted we missed out on 2nd place. Apparently there will be a couple of extra teams next season, which should mix it up a little more. Did you play against us last season? If so, what position did you play? Title: Re: Amateur Pre-Season Friendlies (11 A Side) Post by: DV on Sunday, June 23, 2013, 17:55:44 Cody up top is good at what he does but is very limited. He's quick and he can finish. Some teams struggle to defend against that sort of player. Other teams can do it with ease. If you look his goals all came in lumps. He'd score back to back hat tricks then nothing for 6 games.
Don't get me wrong, he's far from a bad player but his strengths are his strengths. I missed both games due to work - although I caught most of the game at the ridgeway in my trousers and shirt!! |
