So after several key squad members leave we may be bringing in some players replacements  in time for the new season.

Do you want to page back through threads during previous closed seasons and read the rants from fans about the idiocy of announcing transfer targets before the deals are done?

Were the signings that Paolo made announced until they had the scarf over their heads? Mainly no from what I remember. Whereas we all knew about the loan signings that were lined up for January, and look haw that ended up.

I like a bit of transfer speculation and rumour as much as the next man. But I want the club themselves to keep their mouths shut until someone has signed.

I know it is very worrying looking at all our rivals signing so many players with us not making a move yet  :headhurts:

Here is a link to Shittys forum that has all incoming and outgoing transfers so far....looks like there has been about 20 signings by all the teams in our league so far in total, not exactly left behind.

This time last season we had not made a single signing yet.

Every year we get people panicking and forecasting doom about the lack of transfer activity and every year it has to be explained that it's the norm.

 I don't expect any new signings at this time of year, but think it obvious if we need to halve the wage bill, then roughly we need to halve the squad...once this has been done, then KMac can have a look around, so what's left and see what he needs and see what he can afford.

So you think other teams on a similar or lower budget potter about with 12 or so players for a season then Reg? It's not obvious at all considering so many other teams do just fine on less, why should we be any different?

There's no happy-clapping or doom-mongering to be done until we know how many come in and who they are, I'm sure you'll still persevere though.

But Reg, the budget was £4.5mn when we had Ritchie, Risser, Hollands, Martin, Cibocchi (I could go on) by the end of the season we'd trimmed that down with players paid up and loanees returned to clubs.

Surely Caddis and Benson moving on should get us down to where we need to be, we've freed a lot of players for a club with a small squad.

Last year we'd signed Collins, Roberts, Williams, McEveley, Miller, Navarro and TAH by the end of June.

Last year was unique though and it's obvious it was easier to sign players on a budget that was out of control.

As reference was made to last year I pointed out at what time in pre season we started to sign players.

A clearly difficult concept to grasp.

But it is the 13 of June? there are still 17 days left of the month if it were the 29th and still no new players it might get a little concerning but even then it is over a month until the season starts

This is how I feel actually. A left back (or two, because personally I think Jmac's crap, but I understand that might just be me), a midfield option, a striker, and a centre back or two and we'll have ourselves a tidy team for next year.

Obviously if Caddis goes or fucks about and doesn't play properly because he's sulking, we'll need a winger, but Williams might fit into that role alright, and be replaced in the middle by Storey or a signing. I still think Luke Rooney could do a job now he's back in the fold. He has always had some skill, just never had much of a chance to show it.

I see you have mentioned it below but we need at least two wingers and if Luke Rooney goes which looks likely then we would be left with just Gary Roberts, a player who the board are desperately trying to shift off the wage bill.

We were in desperate need of wide options from January onwards when we had the likes of De Vita and Ferry playing out wide.

I guess we made early signings last season as we had our own in-house "agent" working the oracle, had a big budget and were making all the right noises after promotion and regarding the coming season.

This year totally different kettle of fish, not so much money to be thrown around, club still in a state of change so not possibly a first choice for some players looking for a new club.

As the figure I heard was that there are some 900 players being released this summer (which must include Youth/Senior players from all Leagues in England/Scotland and possibly even Europe) then hopefully there should be some good professionals that could be persuaded to sign for us as we still must be a better bet than many other sides.

I agree with you (though that probably means I need to get my head examined), but was considering the easiest 'gap filling' situation for mid-table next season. We do technically still have three wingers (Roberts, Cads, LRooney), four including Williams (who's more of a winger than Ferry was).

I'd love for us to make a cheeky bid for Ritchie, either on loan or for a fee, just to see if Bournemouth are willing to get him off the wage bill, even for a short time if rumours are to be believed about their financial issues. Doubtless someone will moan we shouldn't go backwards, but I don't think it could hurt...

Caddis is a right back and will soon be gone.

Right back by trade. Winger by nature. Great going forward, very suspect defensively. I'd wager a substantial bet on Thompson having a better career than Caddis any day of the week. Although if he did stay, playing him on the right in front of Thompson would be an excellent partnership for this level.
