Title: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: News Monkey on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 06:00:13 Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town
DEFENDER Aden Flint felt he had to leave Swindon for League One rivals Bristol City to give himself the best chance of playing Championship football and progressing as a player. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10477728.Aden_Flint__Why_I_had_to_leave_Swindon_Town/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 06:44:58 I was expecting a little more of a whinge to be honest.
Sounds like Bristol City have been on the case for quite some time. Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Batch on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 08:23:44 I can get why he went, 4 years, probably more money in his pocket, owner with cash to build a squad.
But coming out with the "bigger club, step up" stuff, well I hope he gets a fitting CG reception :) Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: 4D on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 08:25:47 He was in a team heading towards the championship, now he has joined a club who have come down from the championship. :hmmm:
Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 08:37:11 The "bigger club" thing can generally come back to bite you in the arse.
Just ask Sean O'Hanlon. Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Paolo69 on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 08:40:54 I think what he means is that he's gone to a club spending beyond there means. He was quite happy to stay here while we continued to do the same but now wants a step up, in salary!
Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: tans on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 08:46:39 “After we lost in the play-offs I was fully committed to Swindon"
Yeah, alright then Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: thepeoplesgame on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 09:19:48 He doesn't actually call them a bigger club in that interview, just a club with a better chance of promotion next season. In all honesty, I'd find it hard to disagree with that as things stand. And I hate Bristol City.
Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 09:23:28 Like all the players that we bought in the Fitton era, we paid a bit of money with the aim of then selling them on at a profit. That's what has happened....it also happened with Cox, Austin, and Ritchie. Caddis possibly, and only Ferry has let the policy down...although more than covered by profit elsewhere.
Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 09:24:42 After we lost in the play-offs I was fully committed to Swindon" Yeah, alright then And he tried to miss his penalty. Only complete luck made it go in! Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 09:41:05 He doesn't actually call them a bigger club in that interview, just a club with a better chance of promotion next season. In all honesty, I'd find it hard to disagree with that as things stand. And I hate Bristol City. With Lansdowne's supposedly open cheque book, it would be very difficult (but also hilarious) to see Bristol not managing promotion next season. Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Batch on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:00:54 He doesn't actually call them a bigger club in that interview, He did, the Adver didn't print it. Well, technically it was BBC RS interview I suppose, the Adver may have had their own. In any case listen to the radio interview :) Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: kerry red on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:15:06 Let's hope he suffers the 'Andy Williams Syndrome'.
Left Yeovil for a 'bigger' club and they go and get promoted and he is stuck in League 1. Speaking of Yeovil, I was disgusted to hear that at a meeting of League clubs they were the most outspoken for being against League 1 and 2 clubs getting a bigger proportion of the revenue for League clubs. Here's hoping that comes back to bite them on the arse in the not too distant Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Honkytonk on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:20:00 Speaking of Yeovil, I was disgusted to hear that at a meeting of League clubs they were the most outspoken for being against League 1 and 2 clubs getting a bigger proportion of the revenue for League clubs. In any case listen to the radio interview :) If he says what you're telling me he says, I don't think I'll bother. Still, if he has an inflated sense of Bristol City's place in English football he should fit in well with the rest of the deluded twats over there. Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Red Jed on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:27:04 When/where was this? For instance, last week, at the Football League AGM in Portugal, Yeovil Town celebrated their promotion to the Championship by fiercely opposing a move to share extra money with clubs from Leagues One and Two! Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Honkytonk on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:34:36 Cheers Red Jed. As if I needed any more confirmation that Yeovil are cunts...
Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11:40:11 ..... and incredibly short-sighted.

Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: nochee on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 16:30:52 ..... and incredibly short-sighted. Too true. It won't be long until we see them again and it won't be because we win promotionTitle: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: pumbaa on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 20:22:17 Anyone on here who really seriously thinks we are a bigger club than Bristol City, and that we have a better chance of promotion to the Championship, is mightily deluded.
As much as I dislike them and would love to see us do the double over them next season. Title: Re: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 21:49:04 Exactly. Bigger club, bigger squad, bigger budget, bigger fanbase, better place really... competent chairman (hargreaves lansdown v mccrory...what does he do again)... Otherwise, hard luck Aden. Good move for him.

Nice target for next year when we play the shitheads. Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, June 13, 2013, 08:24:30 competent chairman He's spunked the best part of £25 million of his personal fortune in 4 years. How on Earth can that be considered competent? Title: Re: Adver News: Aden Flint: Why I had to leave Swindon Town Post by: dagrumpymunki on Thursday, June 13, 2013, 08:51:52 He's spunked the best part of £25 million of his personal fortune in 4 years. How on Earth can that be considered competent? This'll be the competent ownership that: - Sacked Gary Johnson after he'd kept them in the top half of the Championship table for the previous 3/4 years - Appointed Steve Coppell to replace him and somehow didn't manage to keep him in post until the season started - Panic appointed Keith Millen who was a disaster and sacked a year later - Rebuilt Ashton Gate but somehow "forgot" to include any corporate boxes - which probably helps explain how the club have been losing about £10m a year under his control Wow I wish we had someone that "competent" in charge. Oh hold on we did until recently didn't we. |
