Title: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: News Monkey on Monday, May 20, 2013, 06:00:08 Benson offered to rivals Oxford
TOWN are trying to offload Paul Benson just days after the striker was informed by manager Kevin MacDonald that he would be a part of his plans in pre-season, the Advertiser understands. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10429501.Benson_offered_to_rivals_Oxford/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Costanza on Monday, May 20, 2013, 06:11:46 A quote free mini-article.
Have the Adver rubbed the club the wrong way? Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Batch on Monday, May 20, 2013, 06:35:14 A quote free mini-article. Have the Adver rubbed the club the wrong way? Other than Murrall allegedly threatening legals over the woman's football article before storming off? Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: horlock07 on Monday, May 20, 2013, 07:14:16 I do wonder whether this is the first salvo in a more hostile approach from the Advertiser, story does seem to deliberately seem to wind fans up.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Costanza on Monday, May 20, 2013, 07:15:14 Other than Murrall allegedly threatening legals over the woman's football article before storming off? That ol' chestnut. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: pauld on Monday, May 20, 2013, 08:25:53 They've offered him as a blood sacrifice as part of their evil plan to sublimate us all to an Oxford-worshipping zombie cult. S'obvious, innit?
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, May 20, 2013, 08:50:35 This isn't going to be the quiet close season that some of us want, is it?
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Honkytonk on Monday, May 20, 2013, 09:48:41 Other than Murrall allegedly threatening legals over the woman's football article before storming off? Wait, what?!? When did THIS happen? Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, May 20, 2013, 09:50:11 Wait, what?!? Last Wednesday. When did THIS happen? Adver editor met with him, he didn't introduce himself, threatened the Adver with legal action and stormed out. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Honkytonk on Monday, May 20, 2013, 09:57:34 Last Wednesday. Adver editor met with him, he didn't introduce himself, threatened the Adver with legal action and stormed out. Oh my. Is this because he made comments to the Editor he would not have made if he knew who he was or something? Not the best relationship atm then... I can kind of understand it, they haven't exactly received glowing coverage from the Adver in their short tenure, but it is a tad childish. much better to have the paper on-side, seeing as how many people read it as gospel. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Arriba on Monday, May 20, 2013, 10:02:23 I think the advert have been very considerate so far. They should go for the jugular now.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Batch on Monday, May 20, 2013, 10:35:08 Oh my. Is this because he made comments to the Editor he would not have made if he knew who he was or something? As far as I know: - They ran a story on Glenn Evans quitting the Women's team due to unkept promises. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/10418894.WOMEN_S_FOOTBALL__Town_Ladies_boss__had_no_choice_but_to_quit_/ - He claimed the Chairman (Jed) had gone behind his back (see above article) - Adver claim to have asked 3 times for comment from STFC, but didn't get it so ran the story. - I *think* the issue was the club claim Jed was not involved. Board issue response: http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/10421574.Town_respond_to_claims/ Much ado about nothing. Though STFC do seem to have tried really hard to shoot themselves in the foot at every PR opportunity (IMHO). Would be surprised if the lack of news recently is anything other than it being slow this time of year, plus the club aren't the most communicative anyway right now. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Power to people on Monday, May 20, 2013, 11:15:24 But why the big song and dance about making sure it was known Jed was not involved in anyway, if they had left it then no body would have really batted an eye lid as (no offence) the ladies team isnt that big a deal in the grand scheme
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, May 20, 2013, 11:33:38 Has he been offered to other clubs or just Oxford?
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, May 20, 2013, 11:35:37 Has he been offered to other clubs or just Oxford? all of our players have been offered to everyone apparentlyTitle: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: mystical_goat on Monday, May 20, 2013, 12:01:06 I'd take Benson, definitely. We're looking for a taller striker, and I remember him being very good as Dagenham rose through the leagues.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, May 20, 2013, 12:03:25 all of our players have been offered to everyone apparently Fire sale according to a lot of people on here.Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Nemo on Monday, May 20, 2013, 12:09:36 I've been offered Collins. I'm not sure what he's like about the house mind, not sure if he's worth the money.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: kerry red on Monday, May 20, 2013, 12:26:34 It's not really about who leaves, it's about who comes.
That will tell us what we can expect next season. The worst, I reckon Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Langers on Monday, May 20, 2013, 12:35:20 Staff redundancies now...

Must annoy you deep down surely...Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: mystical_goat on Monday, May 20, 2013, 16:14:36 How does it feel taking all our cast offs? Kerrouche, Cox, possibly Benson... Must annoy you deep down surely... Cox was great thanks (the cast off that still plays for you?), and Kerrouche only played for us twice I think. Tommy Mooney did a job too. Adi Viveash was fine for where we were. What did you think of Beauchamp? That one worked out pretty good for us. Benson isn't a cast off - you're desperately trying to slash your wage bill because you have a bunch of crooks in charge. When September comes you'll be begging for a striker like him. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: woolster on Monday, May 20, 2013, 16:16:16 Thats told you fola
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: mystical_goat on Monday, May 20, 2013, 16:17:42 Oh that's him is it. Definitely the wrong day to try any baiting on your side.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: DV on Monday, May 20, 2013, 16:26:03 Sadly, in this case the Oxford fan is spot on for the most part - Cox was a cast off at the time, will be our only central midfielder come August!!!
Plus I'll never refuse a chance to claim Joey Beauchamp as the biggest cunt and waste of money in STFC history. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: reeves4england on Monday, May 20, 2013, 16:48:44 As if any excuse was ever needed to post this video...

Tommy Mooney did a job too. Adi Viveash was fine for where we were. What did you think of Beauchamp? That one worked out pretty good for us. But at the back of your mind you still think, these are players not deemed good enough to play for Swindon yet they become your best players at Oxford.Benson isn't a cast off - you're desperately trying to slash your wage bill because you have a bunch of crooks in charge. When September comes you'll be begging for a striker like him. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Monday, May 20, 2013, 17:11:00 But yeah you can try and convince yourself otherwise. If the day comes when we're getting Oxford reserves in on loan I will be very embarrassed, regardless of whether they're any good or not.
Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: mystical_goat on Monday, May 20, 2013, 17:36:44 Actually, with Cox I thought to myself "I'm glad their fickle and overly hormonal manager has taken a dislike to this lad, he's clearly a decent CM who could get into most L1 sides. I bet they'll need him back at the end of the season as their lunatic manager will fuck off somewhere better, their promotion challenge will go down the drain, and then they'll be in financial/managerial/boardroom meltdown (again)," and with Mooney it was "fuck me, I'm glad Tommy rejected Swindon's contract offer in favor of ours."
Like all people with the smallest amount of common sense, I couldn't give a monkeys where they've come from once they pull on my team's shirt. If that type of stuff bothers you then you're fucking childish and need to take a good look at yourself. Get out into the world, find out what really bothers you - because you should be embarrassed if it's meaningless shit like that. Kerrouche's main achievement was giving the ball away leading to a goal for Shrewsbury as your season was imploding. Beauchamp was a great buy for us, firstly because Adi Whitbread was somehow valued at half-a-million in the deal, and secondly because he scored the winner(via the back of the keeper's head) in an improbable comeback against Charlton in the League Cup second round. We probably made our money back on our run to semis after that. Seem to remember him having one of his few good games against Derby in the fourth round as well. I'm not clutching at straws, honest. Benson would do well for you. Title: Re: Adver News: Benson offered to rivals Oxford Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Monday, May 20, 2013, 19:36:57 The Adver started off very accommodating and on board with the club, if the club have made an enemy in them then it's the clubs own fault.
