Title: Di Canio discussion
Post by: Talk Talk on Thursday, February 28, 2013, 00:40:51
Maybe Town bought out by the Bin Laden family and turned into the first Islamist football league club? Alcohol banned, hijabs required for all female members of staff, that kind of thing. Still be a supporter then?

Fuck me, I also come back and spend a bit of time on the TEF for various reasons and then you reappear.

Have you pent up all of your posts over the last eighteen months or something? As for the above, it is verbal diarrhea of the worst kind, even by your twisted standards. When did Di Canio ever mention politics or push any of his opinions apart from those related to football? I have always been of the opinion that he never would bring that to the club, he never did and deserves recognition for that. As for you flouncing off like a spoilt brat (and the rest of you high and mighty 'principled' knob ends) because of his appointment, perhaps you should get some perspective in your life.

Fuck off Lumps.

I won't be back as long as you are posting on here. Not because I disagree with your politics (in fact I think politics is for idiot drones who haven't got the ability to think for themselves) but rather because the shite that you post makes me want to do that smashing of the head on the keyboard gif thing. Delicious irony, doncha think?

As has been said before the West Ham Board are a little conservative and predominately Jewish. He's not even going to be thought about there.

Lazio really can't afford to have anything to do with him. He left there under a bit of a cloud last time around as his the board had enough of him because of the controversy over his relationship with the Lazio Ultras, the Nazi saluting and everything.

With that same group of Ultras having just got the club hauled up in front of Uefa for the 4th time in the last year or two for racist chanting, resulting in them having to play a couple of games behind closed doors, I can't see them falling over themselves to bring "the dux" home.

Leeds are probably the only club I can think of that are desperate enough for success, and generally bonkers enough to appoint such a loose cannon.
you hate him. We get it. You're back now he's gone so save us the politics. It's not been mentioned much for ages thankfully.

Oh screw you. Everyone else is allowed to have an opinion on how employable the man is but me eh?

Oh and if you want to adopt this "I don't want to hear about racism or politics" line, you might want to change the avatar because it looks kind of odd coming from Bob.

While I agree there are more important things in life than football sometimes, that comparison is way ott.

It would only have merit if Di Canio had adorned the CG with pictures of Mussolini, made the players make roman salutes before kick-off, adopted a whites-only policy with regard to players and the fanbase and hadn't managed a team for 18 months that consisted entirely of foreign players.

But that never happened did it...?

Di Canio is no racist, just have a look at his close friends/ people he's in business with.

I think it's your opinion of me that is clouding your judgement. There's at least a couple of posts in this tread, Sonic and Paul D's that suggest he's got no chance of another job and will go home to sulk for the rest of his life.

I on the other hand think that someone else, a club that's prepared to give him the control that he demands in exchange for a chance of success, will take a punt on him. Someone like Leeds might do it.

I don't see how that makes me the extreme opinion in this discussion and the target of your slightly over the top anger.

I didn't say the two were comparable, I was just trying to point out that the initial argument, "If you're a Swindon fan you should support them always regardless" was flawed.

I was just trying to show that we probably all have a line beyond which we won't go with our support of the club. Mine was the appointment of a fascist, but I can appreciate everyone else doesn't feel the same way. I was just reaching for an example that demonstrated that there were things that might turn any of us away from the club.

Lumps, you've mentioned the Jewish roots of the West Ham board a couple of times now. Do you realise that of the 116 original members of the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento, five of them were Jewish? Italian Fascism and anti-semitism are not linked in the same way as Nazism.

You can check the sources on Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Fascism

Ummm, no. There is a slim posibility that his father was half Jewish, although this is heavily disputed by historians.

Yes PDC has never made any racist statements in public, and we'll ignore the accusations about the some of the things he might or might not have said to black players at Town, because we've no evidence either way.

What we do know is that he chooses to associate himself with people that ARE overtly racist and anti semetic. The ultras he used to race over to and salute at Lazio do carry banners covered in swastikas and and make reference to sending Jews to the ovens. They have just led to the club being prosecuted for their racist chanting for the 4th time in recent years, meaning they're now playing a couple of games behind closed doors.

PDC's never comdemned them. If asked about them he always defends them. On one occassion when he and some other Lazio players met with some holocaust survivors who asked them not to acknowledge fans that repeatedly gave fascist salutes and sang songs about the Italian concentration camps, he still couldn't bring himself to say they wer wrong. His only response was to make a statement about atroticities committed by communist resistance fighters in Italy during the war.

In 1933, the London Daily Mirror published a picture of a gravestone in a Jewish cemetery in Bucharest inscribed with some Hebrew characters and the name Adolf Hitler but it is now known tha this Bucharest Hitler could not have been the Nazi leaders grandfather. At the time, though, this picture sufficiently worried Hitler that he had the Nazi law defining Jewishness written to exclude Jesus Christ and himself.

Makes you wonder?

I've made mention of people quoting this fucking wikepedia entry elsewhere. For some reason all of the people that reference it seem to ignore the rest of the pages content.

This makes clear that Il Duce regularly indulged in populist anti-semetic rhetoric throughout his political career, and, while there were always different strands of thought in the party, it swung increasingly towards an anti-semeitic position throughout the 30's until they set up the concentration camps in 1940.

Jewish founder members don't really count for much in comparison to that do they?

Lumps, I couldn't give one iota about politics these days, but maybe, just maybe you should read Alexander Solzhenitsyn's memoirs. The untold suffering that occured as of a result of by largely Jewish camp commanders is eye opening. Not the victims they make themselves to be. We are "Goy" to them, in other words cattle.

I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make. If you're looking for me to comdemn the regime that developed in the SU under Stalin, then it's already done. The Gulags were every bit as monstrous as the concentration camps the nazis set up.

If you're trying to imply that the Gulags were some sort of inverse of the Nazi camps where Jews exterminated gentiles, then you're steering a bit close to a "jewish bolshevik conspiracy" argument for my comfort.

There were jews and gentiles in the leadership of the revolution, jews and gentiles in the murderous bureaucracy that grew up after it, jews and gentiles labouring and dying in the Gulags.

I think in this case, it's the outright anti-Semitism. The loony stuff is each to their own I suppose, personally I think it's boring, some seem to like it, fair enough. But there's a line and it's not the first time we've had this anti-Semitic shit from him.

It's a fucking irrelevance to me as I think we can all agree that he is a fascist. That means he believes in rule by strong dictator, in command of a totalitarian state that does not tolerate any form of political dissent, and that's kind of enough for me.

What is provable is that he associates with an overtly racist and anti-semetic political movement, and makes no apology or excuse for it, and I find that more than a bit unsavoury as well.

You allow yourself to be photograhed giving a fascist salute to and running over to embrace a group of fans with swastika tattoos and racist banners and its pretty difficult to complain when people make the assumption that you share those peoples views. If you never publically condemn the things that they do that's even more likely.

I think in this case, it's the outright anti-Semitism. The loony stuff is each to their own I suppose, personally I think it's boring, some seem to like it, fair enough. But there's a line and it's not the first time we've had this anti-Semitic shit from him.

There have been any number of people on here that have posted racist comments in the past though Paul and none of them got banned. The strain of islamophobia has been the most obvious in recent years, but there's been a whole lot of the more traditional variety as well.

And even his anti-semitism is pretty deranged, mental anti-semitism ..... The bloke clearly has some issues

This could really do with some punctuation in it, or has Paul D been peddling stuff on here I have missed. (I know he hasn't)

islamophobia

I take issue with that phrase. It's not a phobia if you know why you don't like it.

Do us a favour and fuck off again. You are incredibly boring, I've never ignored anyone before but I'm very tempted to.

You're going to find that there's a whole lot more former lefties on here than there are supporters of Arkan's Tigers, which I'm guessing is kinda where you're coming from... yeah?

Obsession? Having read your posts post exile and pre exile I'm inclined to wonder who is more obsessed, PDC about his politics ( according to you ) or you about PDC. Either way you are boring a lot of people, and those who goad you into reacting/ defending your position are not much better placed. Why don't you expend some energy in getting back that £400 sponsorship from the GMB union, we might need it next season when the anti Scottish element of our support stay away citing the unfair Barnett formula and MacDonalds links with Robert The Bruce.

Seriously mate welcome back but give it a rest. Time to talk football rather than who was better are at torture, persecusion and concentration camp extermination of who ever.

Quote from: Adver Letters section
"In light of the recent resignation of Paolo Di Canio, I can only speak for all the loyal and diehard Swindon supporters and say thank you, Paolo.

You have come to Swindon, stamped your authority and heart and soul through the club, bringing with it a family atmosphere, a passion and a heart for winning, which has never been seen before. You are a legend that will live long in Swindon’s memory. You left, I imagine with a heavy heart, but with your pride intact. You should be proud of your achievements at Swindon Town.

The way you have been treated has been despicable. The sale of Matt Richie behind your back was wrong and should have been handled more professionally. Didn’t the club realise that doing this despicable act towards you totally diminished all the good work you had done before? Your hands were tied financially but by selling one of your main staff your management ideals have personally come into question. My view is that Matt Richie should have been sold last season for double the money he left for. By that Swindon Town FC would have been in a much better financial position in February 2013. I’m no mathematician or businessman but it seems like commonsense to me and Paolo Di Canio would still be at the helm of Swindon Town.

Thank you for everything and all the best for the future. To the Swindon board – shame on you all. "

Well, Ian Miller, I was with you until paragraph three.
