Title: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Monday, January 14, 2013, 15:48:15 TEF,
A number of the grounstaff are away Skiing this weekend which leaves us a bit short. I am looking for around 6-8 people to help uncovering the pitch by taking off the frost sheets on Saturday morning starting at 9am. It will take around 2 hours of your time and you will be rewarded with a matchday ticket!! PM me if you're interested. Thanks. Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: fatbasher on Monday, January 14, 2013, 18:06:10 I've got a ST, do I get an airline style upgrade to the directors lounge with all the benefits therein?
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Monday, January 14, 2013, 19:20:59 We can give you the opportunity to stay after the game and fork the pitch for an hour. Sound good?

Sound good? burn :-) Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: fatbasher on Monday, January 14, 2013, 23:56:28 We can give you the opportunity to stay after the game and fork the pitch for an hour. Sound good? Try reading my original post again. A one word answer would be good either starting with a y or an n. I am sure you'll get the requisite number of bodies to help you prior to kick off. As for the offer to fork the pitch post match I'm afraid I will have to give that a miss. Anyway don't the apprentices get to learn their craft by doing this kind of stuff like the good old days or is that beneath them? Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 08:13:03 No upgrade I'm afraid.
Only 2 people have taken this up so far. Anyone else interested? Title: Re: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Frigby Daser on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 08:38:49 Would if I could. Surprised there isn't more interest. Are the covers already on? We'll do well to get the game on given the forecast.
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 08:41:05 Yesthe covers are on. They went on at the weekend.
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Gnasher on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 09:24:58 The weather's not looking great. More snow on Friday/Saturday and the temperature not getting above freezing during the day. I hope the covers do the trick.
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: 4D on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:13:40 Yesthe covers are on. They went on at the weekend. Won't the pitch be yellow by Saturday? Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Bumpkin on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:13:45 Grubby, can't believe more people haven't taken you up on the offer.
I'm out of Town so can't, surely the Adver can help? Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:30:22 Hopefully it won't be too yellow with the covers being on so long. We'll see on Saturday.
I can't believe only 3 people have come forward so far. Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Batch on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:38:55 I'll start the excuses with 'have family commitments'. Would do it otherwise. Can't be as bad as shovelling snow off the pitch (x2)!
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Ardiles on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:51:50 My wife is working this weekend. Otherwise, I'd jump at this. How often do you get the chance to step out on to the pitch, without being chased off it again by a steward?

Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Batch on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 09:26:32 So is the game in any doubt due to frost?
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 09:39:10 4D type Question - I have return train tickets bought from Paddington to Swindon. If the game is cancelled, am I able to cancel my train tickets and get a refund?
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Gnasher on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 09:42:14 So is the game in any doubt due to frost? I can't see there being any chance of the game being on. Up to 10cms of snow forecasted for Fri/Sat, on top of the frost. Title: Re: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Batch on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 09:51:42 I was assuming no snow for now! Think covers get a bit dicey at -4 .
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Langers on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 09:52:04 Which is surely what these sheets are for? Don't think the sheets will able to protect from 5-10cm of snow. As for the train tickets, this happened to us last year (Burton game maybe?) We contacted FGW and they said no refunds available. I suppose it is not their fault the game is called off. Already had to write off train tickets for the Colchester postponement, will be a bit peeved if it happens again. I think even if the game is on, us coming from London will struggle to get down there. Forecast does not look good. Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: dporter on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 10:21:55 I think even if the game is on, us coming from London will struggle to get down there. Forecast does not look good. At least if the trains are cancelled we'd be able to get refunds for the tickets. And if the game's on there's always the car. Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Langers on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 10:28:59 At least if the trains are cancelled we'd be able to get refunds for the tickets. Or the hell of a replacement bus... Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: grubby on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 10:30:13 The pitch is ok at the moment. It will be checked every morning.
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 11:46:16 10cm of snow falling on a frost cover would only serve to insulate the pitch anyway wouldn't it
Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Langers on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 11:49:37 Yes it would, but then you have the issue of 10cm of snow to clear and the safety around the ground.
Hopefully we get it on. Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: Batch on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 12:06:37 The pitch is ok at the moment. It will be checked every morning. Good news. Seriously, don't worry about the weather forecast of snow until Thursday night. It'll be in Kent instead by then ;) Title: Re: Grounstaff help for Saturday 19th Shrewsbury Game Post by: 4D on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 12:40:36 Blue and Amber will be going into meltdown
