This weekend I walked through Asda and they have decorations up already.

Many shops in town already have C*****mas displays up.

How does this teach kids to learn the value of C*****mas?

I start feeling 'Christmassy' around Bonfire Night, so I'm not bothered by it... I love this time of year

I'm spared of it mostly.

It does become a major pain in the arse around the actual day though as it plays havoc with my income. If lucky though I'll be spending my forced break sat on a beach somewhere away from all the nonsense. 

Tesco had large Xmas tree up middle of last week, B&Q have "real" Xmas trees in middle of this week!!  STFC were in a very generous, Xmassy mood on Saturday!!

It's only 7 weeks away!

BHS in town had xmas cards on sale in August.

I hate christmas with a passion purely because its one commercial money making opportunity nowadays.

Just don't get all this Christmas negativity, I live for Christmas and get more excited than the kids, I would put the tree up now but the missus would not let me, but I have at least ordered a special free range Turkey from M&S, Now man up and enjoy Christmas.

It's not that I don't enjoy it, far from it. It's just that the whole occasion is being watered down by advertisers and marketeers.

I want it to be a fortnight of enjoyment, not eight weeks of my kids saying "can I have my presents yet Dad?".

Have booked Christmas dinner out, no cooking for me, or washing up  :)

I love Christmas and as mario said probably get more excited than the kids waiting to watch them open their presents etc. But Samdy's right, it's becoming increasingly difficult to maintain my childish excitement in the face of the shops/advertisers/telly doing their best to completely bloody ruin it.

EDIT: Bewster's got it bang on, no mention should be allowed on any network before Dec 1st and any shop that attempts to put up decorations, signs etc that even inadvertently reference Christmas should be forcibly closed until after Easter.

I must have missed the thread where your xmas dinner destination was decided.

Ooh, that's a good point. If it was completely banned until 1st Dec, we wouldn't be able to get advent calendars in in time. Nov 25th then.

I bloody love Christmas. I also get to open presents a day earlier than you lot.

But spare a thought for the poor bastards working in retail,  it's bad enough just being confronted with it when you go shopping, imagine having Christmas music piped into your skull from November onwards

I see Christmas in a number of conflicting ways.

With my own business people are already spending more with me buying presents. This is good.
Because business has generally been shit this year I do 3 days a week in Morrisons - so I get to unload loads of lorries full of puddings and advent calendars etc. At least the piped music hasn't gone to christmas mode yet.
As a parent of 3 children I am busy saying any mention is banned until 1st December, but I have been picking up a few pressies for them as I see the odd bargain.

I'm back in the country from Dec 9th and not got anything on until mid-Jan, so I'm going to plan and execute one hell of a Christmas feast (for 3).

First off. I totally agree with business exploiting Christmas in the way they do but cynical is now a way of life. The same with Easter, Halloween and November the fifth. I'm not sure whether big business will take the piss with Ramadan.
Secondly why did you feel the need to censor the word Christmas?
Third. It's up to individual parents to teach their children the meaning and some might say the importance of the true Christmas message. Never let politicians, teachers and big business teach your children any kind of values.

I managed to knock a Christmas tree over at the end of a till in Asda West Swindon a couple of hours ago, I dealt it a glancing blow with a 4 pinter of milk.

That's not the worst thing, having to work over Christmas/New year is horrible. Although I have been quite lucky, I work Christmas Eve and then not again until the 29th.

I also have New years eve and New Years day off. A lot of people I work with only have Christmas Day off and that is it, which I can imagine is horrible.

Welll I'm not an expert but roughly speaking "Peace and goodwill to all men on earth" and I would extend that to women and children too.

Anyone anticipating receiving a very cheesy present?

I always enjoy the run up to Christmas, usually a good atmosphere in the pubs etc. but agree with the rampant commercialism it now is. Rather see that and people in work however than the alternative, but appreciate those who do have to work and put up with the great British public!

Not so keen on the day itself, always seems to cause friction based around the main meal, why that should be I am not too sure as I always viewed it as a rather bigger roast dinner than usual where overeating is mandatory, but then again I am no master chef!

Roll on boxing day where some sense of normality reigns - always helped when the Town are at home.

We normally go off to Cornwall for either Christmas or the new year. In our family the politics of who's inviting who round does my head in so being down there out the way works well for us. Still have a traditional Xmas dinner etc but boxing day we revert back to holiday mode having a kick about on the beach and fish and chips.

All threads about Christmas should be banned until December 1st.

I love Xmas...but turning on the Xmas lights in London today is a piss take.

This is the thing, unless you hide yourself away within a couple of weeks we'll all be surrounded by lights, jingles and everything that is connected to Christmas. The 1st of December is early enough as it is but at least we'll be in the right month then.

I can handle the in-your-face commercialism of it. After all the retailers and advertisers just want you to buy their products.

It's listening to all of the dickheads that fall for it which infuriates me. As soon as the Coca-Cola lorry advert starts getting played a lot of people go crazy for it and will proclaim that this means it's now officially Christmas. The 'holidays' may be coming, but the spastic brigade has already arrived.

I have a family and live abroad. Not a single present gets bought in Flashheart manor either.

Christmas started in pumbaa's waterhole in September. Since then, the Singing Hands Christmas Cracker DVD has been on constant repeat, my son can do every sign to White Christmas perfectly and in time, Little Donkey is an ace song, my wife has already bought 3 Santa's to add to her already large collection and the tree/decorations are going up next weekend.
