Title: Tribunals
Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, September 20, 2012, 15:02:41
Confirmed 200k for Arch and 140k for Collins

Reasonable?

Fairly, especially if most of the fee is made up in appearances etc. like they usually are.

Good fee for Collins, being a young striker and all that. 150k for Archie might have been more reasonable.

It doesn't. Potentially more than 500k in total.

Plus a 20% sell on clause.

Expensive for TA-H considering they didn't develop him and he was only there for 2 years

Worried about the extras which are added when we get to the Premiership....  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Plus a 20% sell on clause.

In that case that seems a little over the top. Like LS says, neither are youth team products, both spent less than two years at those clubs.

Seems unfair on Shrews that the promotion clauses are only in for Troy though.

Shrewsbury fans seem very happy with the deal.

Potentially another 80k if he plays 80 times for us.

Seems a bit pricey for Collins, seeing as how he's upset PDC somewhat at Pompey!!  Would I be right in thinking that these are the only deals done in the summer that we actually have to pay for, the others being loans/free transfers?

Exeter fans are quite happy as well.

Although this nearly made me shout at my monitor:

What if Swindon can't afford it?

They both better deliver the goods after those fee's, is there any appeal or is that the fee set ?

Title: Re: Tribunals
Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, September 20, 2012, 15:43:37
Seems quite high really but we have to pay it, the fee seems closer to the valuation of Troy and a bit steep for Collins, especially after the add ons but hey ho can't be helped.

Cue Shrewsbury and Exeter mongs saying they were robbed etc etc.

We all remember the last centre back that we signed from Exeter for £200k ;) that turned out to be a bargain so hopefully this one will too.

I might be on my own but happier with the TAH valuation rather the Collins one.

Just hoping Paolo doesnt fall out with either of them soon!

Now we know how much he's cost, I'd definitely like Troy to play instead of Ward now!

I think the Collins fee is pretty good to be fair. Thought he might command a fee of £250k.

I'm just glad we didn't shell the money on Constable.....Collins is a much better prospect.

I hope we've got something in the piggy bank...

Isn't the fee supposed to be compensation for developing the player? What exactly have Shrewsbury done to merit £200k in one season?

I'm not suggesting the player isn't worth that on the transfer market, but as I understand it that's not what these tribunals are about.

Ridiculously high in both cases.

Ridiculously high in both cases.

I agree with this, in both cases its far too much. I suspect someone will have to be sold to cover this cost, ultimately. Only bonus is that if the money is mainly made up of appearance fees....

Anyone know how these fees are formed or is it just a random guess that they'll look at FM or FIFA for?!

Personally, I think they are high fees...hope we see a return on the investment!

Title: Re: Tribunals

Seems like a fortune to me. Doubt we'll recoup those fees. Even more of a financial gamble with such a volatile manager in charge prone to fall out with either at the drop of a hat.

Probably means that some of these loans that were brought in with a view to permenant deals might not get them. Either that or others deemed surplus to requirements will be moved on. Mind you though the apperances thing and sell on clauses dont really bother me too much. PDC will most likely fall out with them before time and move them on for free. No sell on or appearance bonuses to the respective clubs in question.

I'm sure the club didnt think to put any money aside from the transfer budget at all whilst waiting for the outcome of the tribunals.

We'll definitely have to sell players now...

I also expect these fees will leave us skint.

Fucking hell, only just read this.

Was expecting about £50k for Troy as he came from Spurs so don't know how much Exeter actually developed him. Expected Collins to be around the £150k mark as strikers are just more expensive.

Wonder if the board expected this amount when they sanctioned the deals?

I think Wray and co have proved time and again they know what they are doing. Don't forget not that long ago we were happy to pay a fee of around 200k for Constable so to get Collins for 140k is pretty good business if you ask me.

Bullet dodged there, and no mistake.

Regarding Collins and Troy, we haven't seen the best of either yet.  They're still warming up.  Like everyone else, I'm a little surprised at the valuations - but I'm pretty sure that both will turn out to be good pieces of business in the long run.

If Caddis recovers before the January transfer window possibly Birmingham might make his deal permanent and his fee would more than cover Collins and TAH???

Paid by Helen Chamberlain. Possibly. There was some kind of cryptic story in their local press about the move being funded by a female celebrity fan who wished to remain anonymous.

Shrewsbury aren't happy:

Shrewsbury Town Football Club express their bitter disappointment with the level of compensation awarded to the club in the tribunal decision against Swindon Town for the signing of James Collins....derisory recompense ...rewards clubs who approach players with highly attractive contracts

On the other hand Exeter's press release just lists figures and Tisdale says the money will be well spent.

Their fans actually think it's a fair price and that their board are being a bit cockish about it.

And quite what the sell on fee to Villa has to do with it is beyond me.

what a load of crock.

"his development at the club" - he spent longer at Villa!
"his international appearances" - how many of which came whilst at Shrewsbury?
