Title: Charlie austin Post by: newmarket red on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:09:42 I hear he maybe be of to huddersfield anyone no if we had a sell on clause when we sold him to burnley.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Swindon Please Win on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:18:00 Won't happen, they just sold that Rodriguez fella to Southampton, why would they sell their two best strikers in the same summer?
Unless Huddersfield are selling Rhodes, that's the only way I see it happening. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: tans on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:28:08 Worth more than 2 million as has been quoted anyway
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Freddies Ferret on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:29:59 Dont we have 2 million quid to spend? :)
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:45:21 The Burnley fans seem to think Charlie is worth nearer twice that amount....bring on that sell on fee!
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: tans on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 13:46:42 This is when it turns out fitton only put a 50k fee in the deal ;)
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 14:04:10 This is when it turns out fitton only put a 50k fee in the deal ;) :D I have no fear that Mr F will have out in a nice sell on fee in the deal......I did see that there are rumours on the Burnley forum that Austin may have a minimum release fee in his contract of £2 million.I personally can't see that but if he has then if we have a 25% profit sell on fee (as is pretty standard by the sound of it in contracts) if the original fee was about £1.5 million as rumoured then we would only get about £125k in sell on fees. I think its just paper talk and that his true value would be nearer £5 million+ based on goals in the Championship, which with Burnley is actually 17 goals in 50 games. Whereas Jay Rodriguez scored 41 goals in 128 games and sold him to Saints for £7 million with a games per goal rate of 3.1 games per goal......Charlie has a games per goal rate of 2.9 and an overall football league rate of one goal every 2.1 games which is far superior to Rodriguez. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Arriba on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 14:25:02 Don't think he's worth more than 2mill. You can get prem players on frees

Im guessing his price was mainly based on his superb record last season as opposed to the average seasons that went before. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: DRS on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 15:08:28 Don't think he's worth more than 2mill. You can get prem players on frees on that basis we would never have transfer fees. On todays market he is worth more0 than 2m. of course there would still be transfer fees.but the free transfers available should keep fees for players like Austin down. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: jonny72 on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 15:37:21 Don't think he's worth more than 2mill. You can get prem players on frees Except they're not free are they - the player will expect a large signing on fee and increased wages if they're out of contract. The going rate for a striker in his early 20's that scores a goal every 2-3 games in The Championship is £6m-£8m. Think the main problem with Austin is injuries. If he plays a full season and hits 20 plus goals he'll be worth £6m. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Frigby Daser on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 17:16:17 Makes you wonder how worthwhile some of this summers 'investments' could be financially. Say Collins has a cracking season, we go up, and then does well in the league above. It also makes me absolutely certain that we must not sign a Kewell over a Bostock, who is probably a better player, and has potential resale value if he does well for us.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: DRS on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 18:13:48 How about if we sign both.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: DV on Monday, July 16, 2012, 08:54:10 Don't think he's worth more than 2mill. You can get prem players on frees We got the best part of 2m for him a few years back. Since then he's played and scored in the championship. There is no way his value has stayed the same. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: juddie on Monday, July 16, 2012, 10:59:28 injury prone though, he's a risk.

Hopefully austin and cox are on bog standard sell on fee's also interesting article by the washbag on the 2 million investment http://thewashbag.com/2012/07/16/cash-converters-where-swindons-new-money-will-be-spent/ Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: ScillyRed on Monday, July 16, 2012, 13:17:38 Hmmm ....... Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: janaage on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 12:21:25 Said it before, I'll say it again he'll end up playing for England, good luck to him, just wish he had a Scottish grandparent!
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: BruceChatwin on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 12:34:26 As low as 6/5 on Skybet to be joining Everton  Don't think there's much in it beyond skybet thinking 'where can we choose as the most plausible destination for austin and sucker people in to blowing their money?' Having said that, he would score a shit-tonne of goals for them with leighton baines pinging 20 balls into the box every game. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: suttonred on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 12:38:02 Everton have said they only have a 2 million budget for jan signings, so unlikley.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Ginginho on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 12:44:42 Everton have said they only have a 2 million budget for jan signings, so unlikley. A couple of clubs looking at Fellaini, so if he goes it could be plausible. Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Leggett on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 12:49:21 he needs to stay at Burnley and keep banging them in, got money on him for top scorer this year!
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: leefer on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 13:15:47 Wonder if he has a clause....Newcastle are desperate for a striker also.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Honkytonk on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 14:33:33 Newcastle are desperate for a striker also. Was talking to my Toon friend about this, and we reckoned he'd be chuffing great there, what with the set up they have atm. Would help balance out the nationality of the squad a bit too... I doubt Celtic would be willing to pay the transfer fee wanted by Burnley though. Title: Re: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Frigby Daser on Monday, January 21, 2013, 19:02:56 Or more to the point, the transfer fee that we want.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, January 21, 2013, 19:11:08 Or more to the point, the transfer fee that we want. Just hope he's not mentioned a scottish grandpaarent as I'd give my left bollock to see him playing for Scotland.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Ginginho on Monday, January 21, 2013, 20:37:27 They would love him up there, he would score goals for fun and get to play Champions League football.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Monday, January 21, 2013, 20:54:09 Could be a good move for him given the fact that they are still in the champions league this season. More or less guaranteed a spot for next season as well. A year or 2 up there then onto the Prem is he nets some goals.
Title: Re: Charlie austin Post by: BruceChatwin on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 00:48:06 Were it to happen, would be a good move for him: great fans who'd treat him like an idol, CL football, would slot naturally into Hoopers slot and score plenty of goals in the SPL. But assuming the Hooper bid will be about 7m don't think Celtic would be willing to blow the whole of that fee on him and equally don't think Burnley would be keen on letting Austin go for the 5 million max Celtic would probably be willing to offer in those circumstances.
