Made a rod for his own back Tuesday. I prefer to see it as putting down a marker. Cross the line boys and you'll regret it. I still can't believe they let us, the club and themselves down like that. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: OOH! I don't see why he couldn't just fine them. Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra went out on the piss a few weeks ago when they shouldn't have and Paul Jewell dropped Bullard and fined Chopra. His reasoning was that each of the respective punishments would be most effective in each player's case.Paolo should have just fined the other four IMO. It should have been kept in house and a line could have been drawn under the incident. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:07:40 I prefer to see it as putting down a marker. Cross the line boys and you'll regret it. I still can't believe they let us, the club and themselves down like that. I have a question. I've been away and have not read every single post on this subject so sorry if it's already been covered.Every Saturday around the country, players from every club go out on a Saturday night and have a few beers, win lose or draw, regardless of where they are in the table. Paolo, even though he is Italian and therefore not from a drinking culture, will understand this surely, having played in the UK for a number of years. So my question is: Is his policy that players should never, ever go out drinking during the season (a bit Draconian I would have thought and doomed to failure) or did something else happen for all this to erupt? Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: joteddyred on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:14:39 And so it rumbles on. We all hoped this was done and dusted, but clearly not.
If we fail to pick up anything at Gills today, it's the supporters who have paid good money to follow the team there that suffer the most, just like Tuesday night. If the title was already sewn up, I'd agree with the decision to drop players. As it's not, I agree with OST, it should have been dealt with in house and not splashed across the paper etc. Makes the club look a bit silly. Losing Foderingham is the biggest blow. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: donkey on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:21:34 Why the fuck did these four not apologise as well earlier in the week? I think Di Canio is spot on here. His way or you're out.
Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:23:48 I agree Donkey. I'm really annoyed that we're travelling and paying to watch the team, and 3 important players are being left out because of a stupid incident. It's easy to blame Paolo, and part of me does think he's gone too far, but if they'd come out and owned up like the others this would have been sorted.
It's like a primary school. Embarassing. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:26:07 Losing Foderingham is the biggest blow but in fairness Smith is going to have some decent defenders in front of him (assuming they've not all been dropped of course) and I have seen Smith have some decent games for us. It's not like we're going to have Rocking Robin in goal...or will we :hmmm:
I do agree that the other 4 are fucking imbeciles for not apologizing when they had the chance though. How did they think they would get away with it? Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Flashheart on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 08:39:44 Was Lee Cox likely to be in anyway.
Sound an odd way to punish a player that hasn't even been making the bench....... I woke all positive could not wait to celebrate in front of the Pikeys but I am not prepared to get in the car with the kids and drive all the way to pikeyville to watch us get stuffed by playing another weakened side fucking fuming lets just fucking get over the line win the league and then put all the cunts up for transfer.

Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra went out on the piss a few weeks ago when they shouldn't have and Paul Jewell dropped Bullard and fined Chopra. His reasoning was that each of the respective punishments would be most effective in each player's case. There you have the difference. Ipswich have a decent team who are underachieving because like the players the manager likes a drink. He has let them do this shit all season and despite spending shit loads in the summer are fucked because of that culture,we seen last year what it does to the club first hand.Paolo should have just fined the other four IMO. It should have been kept in house and a line could have been drawn under the incident. I understand your other post about all players going out but these players all have to ask permision at the clubs, the rooney example where he went for a meal without asking and was dropped. Paolo has never stopped the players going out hence why people have seen them this year the key difference though is he does not want them steaming until the early hours and definatly not 3 days before a game that can get you promoted. Let's add to the situation that it's the first time it happens coincides with him having to leave the country to be at his mums funeral he probably feels that they have let him down. These players need to realise that they are only one level above non league ffs. They have a choice knuckle down and they can have a good career or follow the likes of rose last season and see what happens. The plus side is that on the whole they have been brilliant and done what is asked and in a weird way may see how close they could of been to losing something they all worked bloody hold for. Sorry for the essay am fucked on painkillers :D Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Boeta on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:03:36 I have a question. It's otherwise likely to be pretty much our strongest 11, full of players eager to get back into Di Canio's good books. I don't get all this negativity. I guess we'll follow up our last defeat with another today, like we haven't done so often this season... Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:08:11 Why the fuck did these four not apologise as well earlier in the week? I think Di Canio is spot on here. His way or you're out. I agree totally, the players know the rules (I am assuming Paolo told them about drinking), they broke the rules, they get punished. As for Cox being brought into it...makes me wonder if he was the one that Paolo said would not play for the club again this season. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Ticker45 on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:19:24 Around Christmas a certain Mr Ferguson left out Wayne Rooney for a similar transgression and he apologised and that was it. If the remaining Town players dropped today cannot be assed to do the same who in the hell do they think they are? The Club will always be bigger than any player!

Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: PetsWinPrizes on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:24:35 What's annoyed me, and I suspect maybe PDC, is that these four were happy to let the other five be hung out to dry without fessing up. Hardly way to treat team mates

Why cant these bastards just fucking wait a few weeks and they can do whatever the fuck they want, we best fucking win today. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Flashheart on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:38:46 The good news out of all this is it would appear that Cox has just been injured and not a poor signing (hopefully) as was suspected.
Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: joteddyred on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 09:53:40 Everyone was jumping the gun on Tuesday night making comments about Flint. Ironically, it now appears that he wasn't involved and the player who was picked in front of him was and kept quiet!
Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: dell returns on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 10:03:37 What is this doing to the dressing room?
PDC play your strongest team and sort out the problems internally after we have won the league, not now. Lose today and Shrewsbury win and it will get a bit tense. Come on, stop them two weeks wages and win today. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: OOH! I think DRS is saying, in Ipswich's case at least, a fine is clearly not effective enough. Using Ipswich as an example would be fine if they are doing well, but they are not. PdC is doubtless looking to next season, if he's still here, and he's 100% right that there can be no repeat of last seasons activities. Div 3 is much tougher than Div 4...just look at Chesterfield, we'll need a major rebuild....and this will show him who has the mental toughness for the scrap ahead.

Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Gerinthere on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 11:00:32 Somebody on here said he was injured and apparently Rooney wouldn't have been playing anyway due to some sort of 'gentleman's agreement' Can't be any gentlemens agreements, not when Hessenthaler makes a comment in a pevious adver report saying he's looking forward to going head to head with his former player. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Oaksey Moonraker on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 11:09:55 I think Paolo is doing the right thing and it smacks of what Lou Macari did back in 85 when he said he would have to breathalyse the players. We all probably like a drink but heavy sessions really damage the body's recovery and with an important game on the Tuesday it's took soon. Look at the long careers that those who bought into Lou's approach enjoyed and those that didn't fell by the wayside.
Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Arriba on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 11:32:55 If we win then the boss got it right,if not then he got it wrong. The players have clearly broken strict rules set out by the boss.
I don't think the lads did anything that bad, just pissed it up on a saturday after a big win-birth of a team mates baby. There was plenty of time to prepare for tuesdays game so i'm sure it would have had zero effect on their performance even more so for today. Bloody risky move by di canio at the crunch time of the season. The players will obviously be pissed off about it and it could effect team morale(really hope not though) Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 12:48:07 I was on the same table with Claudio and Domenico at the Sponsors Dinner a few weeks ago, and someone asked Domenico if any of the players are allowed a drink. He said that they are not allowed to drink any alcohol.
The players know the rules...and they've broken them, and now they're going to feel Paolo's wrath. Title: Re: Adver News: Town quartet set to be left out Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 13:33:32 Strikes me that it's all been a bit childish. Wait till the manager (teacher) is out of the way & we will have a piss up.
The players then had the opportunity to own up, apologise & put it behind them and move on, Which five of them did. The most annoying thing is that it appears these four didn't do that & are now paying their price.
