I want Magera to have a Fjortoft season. So I'm backing him to get a couple tonight, an aeroplane celebration and then a goal a game for the rest of the season. So we'll probably lose tonight (3-2 or pens) but go on to win the league.

The 2nd leg of the area finals isn't until February so making the final won't have any impact on the wage cap as it comes after it is set for the rest of the season (end of the transfer window I believe). So it won't help us and will only help Southend if they are strapped for cash and can't afford loan signings or to pay their bills.

Barnet's form is improving, they were unbeaten last month, it won't be as easy as the 4-0 earlier on in the season.

The F.A. Cup game against Barnet should serve as a reminder for all of us.

Are we that dirty? Really? I've noticed one or two players going down a bit easily which is frustrating, but other than that I don't think we're any worse than most sides.

Anyway, was delighted when I got to check the result around 10pm tonight. Was really annoyed I couldn't make it. Hoping our game is the one that gets put on TV on the Thursday, as I can't make Tues or Weds that week!!

Thought in the last few seasons we needed to get a bit more street wise as most teams used to bully us. Now we are giving it back so more than happy to take the sour grapes comments from other teams supporters.

What a game!!  first half we were pretty poor, and Southend were unlucky in my opinion to be 0-0 at half-time.  I thought we were a fraction off of the pace in the first half, and if southend had converted their chances could have been 1 or 2 goals ahead at the interval.

Second half, totally different story.  even when Southend went 1-0 up, you could see from the Swindon fans and players that we felt that we were still in this tie, and boy, were we ever.  We took Southend apart after going a goal behind, and we could have finished with 3 or 4 goals by the end of the game.  Jervis missed a great chance, as did Ritchie in the last minute.

My man of the match goes to Caddis.  he was immense down the right for us tonight and topped it off with a great strike; the Southend keeper didn't even move :)

Confusing!

We were cracking in the second half after Southend were on top first half. After they scored we completely dicked on them.

Awesome strike from Caddis and a lovely flick header from Murray. Flint and McCormack were sensational, absolute rocks.

Also thought our support was excellent, no problems with Crispy and gang from where I was stood either. We sang even louder after conceding which is exactly how it should be.

Top win.

Oh and I have to mention Ferry. Thought Risser was better than against Colchester but that might be down to the worse view, but Ferry ran the game when he came on. Head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch, spreading the play and doing his Hazard-esque 360 turns to get out of trouble, although playing against tiring legs obviously helped.

Shame about Richie missing Rovers - can't remember him getting booked.

It's easy to forget Ferry had 3 years out of football. It makes me wonder if he'll develop later simply because he missed so much. In a few years I think he'll become the calibre of player Celtic always expected of him.

I know its a difficult balancing act these days but we need to get our top players signed up long term and we need to do it sooner rather than later.

I know we have a wage budget and I know we've had past players who drop their game when their future is sorted, but still...

This club is definitely going in the right direction now. What we need to do next is stop being such a selling club. Players at this level have a price I know that but we should set that price and stick to it.

If we want 2m for Ritchie then we say that and don't accept a penny less.

I also think Di Canio will be here in the short term future no matter what. He's different, he's unique - he's a football fan who became a player. He is in it for the love as much as the money.

He's building here and I think he'll stay till the job is done.

We went 20 unbeaten at the end of the 85-86 season and start of the 86-87 season, don't know if that's the record though?

I think we already do that. We say stupid things in the press like Ritchie is worth 2 million. But we must have a realistic price in our minds.

Its also hard to stop being a selling club when a player wants out.

I think we showed we had changed in this area when we let Paynter's contract expire in the pursuit of promotion. We could have tried to offload in January (of course we may have, who knows).

really enjoyed my two visits to Essex in 4 days! After the match, my old man text me saying "Essex 0-2 Swindon". Onto Rovers where we'll be backed by 1300 strong!

interesting reading on the sarfend forum.
opinion seemed to be split 3 ways between those who admitted they were beaten by a better team and are worrying that the wheels are coming off, those who blamed Sturrock for getting tactics wrong and the bitter ones calling us a cheating, whining, fouling team constructed in PdCs image.

Of the latter lot the fingers were generally pointed at Caddis and Ritchie.
I know there's a lot of sour grapes involved but can anyone who went say whether this was justified?  I'm not too surprised about Ritchie being singled out as he often seems to react poorly to opponents niggling him or to look for free-kicks but I've never noticed Caddis behaving as they were suggesting.

Quite often it's the best players who get slated by opposing fans for even the little trivial things as its better than admitting that they are just quality players who don't play for them.

Just in the last two games alone Caddis was moaning a lot at the ref. I'm sure in his eyes he's just fulfilling the captains role as team spokesperson but he's running the risk of needless bookings if he carries on doing it every week.

And as much as we shouldn't care what other teams think of us and most comments can be put down to sour grapes, we don't want to end up being mentioned in the same breath as Crawley in terms of teams hating us do we?

Ritchie does like a tumble, though he doesn't play act beyond going to ground fairly easily.

Think as a home side you have to expect the opposition to play a bit more of a frustrating niggly game. I can't say I've noticed our entire team surround the ref as I have with some other teams, but it may be me choosing to ignore it.

He's been doing it all season, he does love running across the pitch to the ref with his arms outstretched to have a moan. It used to annoy me, but after the apathy displayed on the pitch last season I'm happy to see the levels of passion and fight the players are showing this year, even if it gets them into trouble occasionally.
