Sturrock expecting a good reception

SOUTHEND boss Paul Sturrock says he hopes former club Swindon have a good time of it this season - just not this weekend.

I for one will be giving him a good reception. Top guy and a good manager for us.

Don't see any reason why he wouldn't.

I think he's likely to get no reception, rather than a good one. Definitely wouldn't/shouldn't be bad.

The football wasn't pretty under him, but it got us results and he got the job done.

A likable enough character, I have no ill feeling towards him.

Has everyone forgotten his massive disrespect to us after leaving. We had a friendly with Plymouth and he couldn't even be bothered to tuen up and sent the youth team. Scottish cunt.

I'd have liked Sturrock to stay, but could understand why he didn't.....he did however recommend Malpas, a heinous crime, for which he deserves stick (only joking)

Fuck him:
 - left after saying "a contract is a contract"
 - Shit youth team pre-season friendly
 - Stitched us up with Malpas.

Some good points well made Batch, would have liked PS to have stayed but life goes on.

- We all know contracts mean nothing these days
- No one really cared at the time
- Fair point

The guy did a good job for us, wasnt pretty but was effective

I met him a couple of times and he was a really nice bloke, did bang on about Dundee United an awful lot though....

I'm pretty ambivalent towards luggy, he got us up after the pygmy fucked off, but the style of play under him wasn't exactly entertaining (Although I didn't really mind when we were winning).

I even understood when he left. What I can't understand is him recommending Malpas.

Not at a...yacht race?

I've got no ill will against sturrock. He did a job for us, left under excusable (imo) circumstances and seems quite dignified in the way he does things.

Many managers have sent weakened sides to us in friendlys in the past, and many will in the future. It's nothing to get angry about. And if people seriously hold Malpas against him they need to check themselves.

I will not welcome him back or give him a good reception.  That said, I will neither give him a hard time.

It's all about Swindon, not the fat scotsman.

Couldn't really care about Sturrock much. He just carried on from where Wise left off. The football was boring but at least he got us out of L2 so I do thank him for that. He couldn't wait to bugger off though. He could have at least heard what Fitton and Co had to say. I guess when you haven't been paid for ages you will want to go though so fair enough I guess. I don't hate him but I don't particularly feel there is a need to give him a special welcome either.

Ace, I love the fact people are getting all shitty because he sent a weakened team down for a meaningless friendly.... I'd love to see what would happen if McMahon ever came back to the club as an opposition manager.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that... it was indeed great fun.

EDIT - This was with Blackpool right? He hasn't managed anyone else has he? (In this country I mean)

To be honest he's exactly the type of manager I'd hoped we'd get before PDC was appointed. I don't care how we get out the league, as long as we do!

I remmember a really fiesty midweek 2-2 draw with Blackpool under McMahon.

Wednesday's make better midweek games.

There was a period of 5-6 years where we drew pretty much every game we played against Blackpool. Very odd.

Edit: In fact, 11 of the last 13 meetings between the clubs ended in a draw!

Can't understand how anyone would want to give a warm welcome to the fat, Jock, Stovie-munching, Diamandis/Wills/Holt gobbler that is Sturrock.

He can fuck off with his Orange paint and his dodgy fucking peroxide toupe.

The fat wanker inherited a decent setup when Wise fucked off and then rode the wave to promotion.

He's done fuck all since he left us apart from setting up the Janners for an almighty fall, whilst shamelessly making sure that his useless cunt of a son continues to make a living in the game.

I'll boo the fat Scotish bastard all day long.

You normally save your vitriol for more suitable targets DI....any STFC manager who orders doubles in Mr Cod for his coaching staff will do for me.

Totally neutral on him. He just about got us over the finishing line largely due to Vincent moving to centre half and helping make Ifill look decent. Did support the crooks though although not sure what esle he could have done. The style of football though wasn't great - even bringing McNamee back for corners.

Not sure why mind?

At a bbq for the first Englad world cup game last year,

Fuck knows why he was there and it was just pissing about in the garden but he got done by a 7 year old a few times and he didnt seem to be taking it easy.

I was not too happy when he left for Plymouth, even more unhappy when Malpas came in. BUT we did have some great away days during the promotion season (Walsall, Torquay usw.) plus it was fun to watch us play like a sack of rubbish for ninety minutes but still rob the other teams and win the matches.

So I wouldn't boo him
