What kind of time is 1pm on a Sunday for football anyway? That time is set aside for roast lamb and mint sauce. It's all wrong. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Ralphy on Friday, June 24, 2011, 10:44:38 Yes !!! Great news !

Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: donkey on Friday, June 24, 2011, 15:30:31 That completely buggers up my plans. Attendance on Aug 21st: doubtful. What kind of time is 1pm on a Sunday for football anyway? That time is set aside for roast lamb and mint sauce. It's all wrong. Of course it's wrong. 1pm on a Sunday is cricket time. I've had the Re at Leics marked in the diary for fucking ages and they do this! Twats. Football should be on a Saturday (I like Sat 1pm kick offs though, as I can be home by 5pm!). Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: oxford_fan on Friday, June 24, 2011, 15:47:10 No boxes just executive seating. Ring the club up. What does 'executive seating' actually mean then? Seats in the main stand in a little cordoned off bit, and access to a lounge of some kind? I think I'll stick to the away end if thats the case. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: axs on Friday, June 24, 2011, 15:48:29 Basically, yes.

Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, June 24, 2011, 17:35:01 Makes me laugh hearing people say it wont make any difference with the trouble. Its the sort of thing people used to say about hooliganism in the 1980s. Course it will.
Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Dave on Friday, June 24, 2011, 17:48:12 Makes me laugh hearing people say it wont make any difference with the trouble. Its the sort of thing people used to say about hooliganism in the 1980s. Course it will. Laugh away. Fact is the real, dedicated hooligans on both sides are more likely to get coked up rather than boozed up before any "engagement". Coke gives you wings, booze slows you down. Still, you know best. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: herthab on Friday, June 24, 2011, 17:58:51 Laugh away. Fact is the real, dedicated hooligans on both sides are more likely to get coked up rather than boozed up before any "engagement". Coke gives you wings, booze slows you down. Still, you know best. I don't think Spence was saying there won't be any trouble, of course there will be, but that it will be lessened to a large degree. A lot of people get stupid after drinking too much and that can lead them to behaving like fuckwits. 'Real, dedicated hooligans'? Most of the ones I see nowadays must be on coke, or pepsi, they're nearly all about 12. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Dave on Friday, June 24, 2011, 18:09:14 I don't think Spence was saying there won't be any trouble, of course there will be, but that it will be lessened to a large degree. Most of the ones I see nowadays must be on coke, or pepsi, they're nearly all about 12. Come on, we all know that both clubs have dedicated, organised hooligans. I'm not talking about the excitable youngsters who might get a bit lively after a shandy, but the ones who wrecked the Dickens pub at Paddington a couple of seasons ago. I know for sure that from the Oxford side plenty of older, long-retired hoolies will be making a special trip, and I don't see why it would be any different from the Swindon side. Whether there's any actual trouble is another question. Probably minimal given the likely policing and CCTV coverage. My bet is a lot of posturing, little if any contact. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Ardiles on Friday, June 24, 2011, 18:50:20 The scene at Gillingham 4 or 5 years ago (first time we had played them in a while) was a sight to behold. It was like a cross between Green Street and In Sickness and In Health...Class of 1975 skinhead reunion. And I'd never seen any of them in my life.
No doubt the same crew will show up for the Oxford game. Wouldn't really call them Town fans, to be honest. Just a group of geriatric baldies with nothing else to do who also happen to like a bit of fighting now & then. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, June 24, 2011, 19:02:40 All the lads will be making plans, and then come saturday night, they will be bored but excited about the derby on the sunday, and go out and get smashed saturday night.
It makes a huge difference in terms of the Pox's options in terms of getting public transport to Swindon and the number of pubs open for them. In fact I should think the only pubs open before midday in Swindon will be back door specials. Easy decision for the Police. Be interesting to see what they would do for a mid week cup game. Seems to be the only time you get serious trouble in or around grounds these days (Villa Birmingham, West Ham Millwall etc). The dark reduces the effectiveness of CCTV, and of course fans take the whole day off. Birmingham Police have said that all derby games will have to be played at 1pm ko, be that mid week or not, and I should think other forces may follow. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Ardiles on Friday, June 24, 2011, 19:16:11 Please dont talk about herthab like that Present company excepted. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Notts red on Friday, June 24, 2011, 19:22:04 Was going to catch the 10.09am from Barnstable after a 2nd drive from St Agnes, now it's Sunday its either a long drive or getting updates from mates at match. Will now do the Cheltenham game and go down to Cornwall on the Sunday. Im Sure there will be bits of trouble whatever day or time match is, just hope it stays between those who want it.

Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Dave on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 09:42:30 :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Surprised you didn't mention Banbury too. You do realise I'm an Oxford fan? All these so-called hooligan "victories" are laughable. Swindon apparently get the better at Banbury, but Oxford claim it was 40 v 25 and most of ours were kids. Oxford seem to have come out on top at Banbury, but Swindon claim most of their "top lads" (I feel sick) had already left for Gillingham. So, assuming you even care, who do you believe. Answer is believe neither side. It's all pointless hyperbole. Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Benzel on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 09:54:58 Don't pretend you feel sick.
It's all you ever talked about on FF!! Title: Re: Oxford games have been moved Post by: Dave on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 10:03:29 Don't pretend you feel sick. It's all you ever talked about on FF!!
