Sent a text to my wife requesting that we delay our holiday departure by a day or two so I can make Oxford (H) on Aug 20th.  No reply.  I don't think I'm very popular.

I haven't yet dared raise the subject of Cheltenham (A) the weekend before.

My wife and kids are off to Russia on 14th August, so no problem for me  :D. Can't wait.

Change the file extension to .txt and try again.

Click on the link I posted. There's a +Google button in the bottom right of the window, click on it.

It will then add it to your Google calendar.

They don't normally show League 2 games in August though. They normally show the League Two games when there is an international weekend programme.

I was thinking more of something we could do together, rather than under the cover of darkness.

When i did that it wasn't actually that dark.

Well happy with the fixtures. Probably the best fixture list I can remember for a fair few years. August just looks quality with 3 local games including of course the biggy with Oxford. We've waited 10 years almost to play again and now it's not too far away. Really pleased we have a quality away day in Cheltenham for our first trip. We always seem to play them at their place in August and it's a great trip.

Our two week family holiday starts on 13th Aug ! I can just about cope with not going to Cheltenham but I'll have to drive back for the Poxford game, Ain't missing that ! I just new it would happen but with kids school holidays and work haven't got much choice. Bloody holidays.

It's always quiet in the close season. Still, we've managed well over 4000 posts this month.

Although the point of this site is to keep the mongs out, Swindon, Pox or otherwise.

Just realised that the first game of the season is the day we come back from holiday in Pembrokeshire. Trying to negotiate with Mrs Wiggy for me and the boys to be dropped off at the ground on the way back. I am sure I will be able to scrounge a lift to Devizes after the game.

Or just get the club to postpone the games you miss.

We got married in August, and the club kindly re-arranged the first home game (with Reading) to later in the season so that we didn't miss it. :)

I'll start.  We beat Chesterfield 2-0 at home - both Cureton goals - in front of a crowd of 5,661.  (A slight improvement on the stag weekend scoreline 4 weeks earlier away to Forest.)

I got married in June so I wasn't stupid...............althuogh i was on honeymoon when England played W Germany in the smis of the World Cup in 90 and after we lost I blubbed.

But the school holidays start in.....July.....and as far as I know, there's not much football getting played during that month :hmmm:

I got married on a day we played Franchise* at home, my best man announced the result during his speech, my missus was not happy.

It will have been 1988/89, (although having checked it wasn't Reading).

If I remember we were due to play at home on either the opening Day, (or the Tuesday night after), but we couldn't play at home because the Stratton Bank didn't have its safety certificate after the terracing was re-built.

To be honest I can't remember if the game was postponed or whether we switched and played away, the only for sure was that we didn't miss a home game

I remember that. It should have been Palace but it took Hilliers' Building Contractors all summer to put down a bit of concrete on the Stratton Bank. Our first game was away to Barnsley on the Bank Holiday Monday.

Yep, that was it.   

Irony was that I missed the play-off games with Palace at the end of the season because I was on holiday in Spain with the lads.  Still the only Town play-off games I haven't been to.

Scummers are looking into getting a temporary stand for our visit.

The Port Vale fan on that site is talking out of his arse and seems to think Micky Adams is some sort of football genius - I guess he didn't watch him closely at Sheffield United.

They seem to think that because a lot of the players we've signed are unknown to them and are foreign then they must be shit.

They also think they won't like the rough and tumble of league 2.

I hope they are in for a major surprise.

Happy to be seen as the underdogs as it can only be a good thing for us, if teams / fans are writing us because of the nationality of the player we have signed then they do it at their own peril

I originally had a bit of a misgiving about foreigners not adapting to league 2 and the cold weather etc but these guys we've signed have been playing in lower leagues in France, Belgium, Germany and Italy etc so its hardly that much of a culture shock. Had we signed 11 players from Dubai, Miami, Delhi etc then we can worry. Let them write us off and we'll do our talking on the pitch.

Like above, were just a bunch of useless foreigners who wont be able to cope with the rough, physical side in which League two brings.

I hope/believe that a few games into the season that opinion will quickly change  :smugfu:

They have a point in some respects, that they appear to be high risk signings with little proven English lower league experience.

What they fail to see is that it works the other way too. That this bunch may turn out to be utterly brilliance, a play to a much higher standard than league 2. Nobody knows really.

One thing I am sure about is that Di canio won't let them out on to the pitch feeling sorry for themselves on a cold winters night. I've heard enough and seen enough in our transfer dealings to know he won't stand for < 100% in 100% of the games. Do it his way of see you later.

Going on last nights game, the first thing Vin Diesel did after he came on at half time was mash a SS defender and send him on his way on a stretcher! Commazi was dishing it out in the first half, and Smith and De Vita would have been booked numerous times if it were a league match.
