It's not the waiting that is the problem, it's the hearing people whinging about the waiting. That and the speculation presented as fact.

If the Adver wanted to do some journalism why not profile the candidates in detail? Or least pick up the phone and as some ex-pros or at least fellow hacks what they think? Or if you are really lacking contacts try the bloggers at the candidates old clubs?

Reading the Adver story it looks more like clarification on the situation than finding out who the manager is. Hope im reading it wrong though

So, would people rather the board appoint someone today because they're impatient, or wait til tomorrow/Monday if it means getting the top candidate?

Ok, so they said Wednesday, delays happen. Could be personal terms, backroom staff, compo, legal bollox....

I would much rather wait til next week and get Hamann than find out today and get Burley, if that's what the hold up is.

I think it's more getting pissed off with the adver saying different things every day when it's apparant they are in as much as the dark as us.

So what do they do? Report nothing? Then everyone moans they haven't written anything.

I don't have an ounce of feeling for the adver one way or another, but in this situation they can't win.

Think less is more in this case.

Personally would rather they wrote nothing than a few pieces of speculative bollocks every day.

When there's something concrete to report fine, but don't think people would be up in arms if there's nothing to say for a day or two.

but imagine they did that and wrote a story about Pericard on his holiday, people would moan like fook.

I know it's hard Juddie and i think this is where things like Twitter don't help. Rose on Twitter said the 3 are Hamaan,Di Canio,Burley.I asked what about Buckle and he said no he is not in the 3.

24 Hours later there is a small piece saying the adver understands that Hamaan has not been approached?

Someone else said elsewhere that maybe they should just report the truth. They don't know what's going on. I know they can't win but at least it's the truth.

They could do a piece on how well the board have kept it quiet so well. Could make for an entertaining read if they went about it the right way.

The fact is the only people who know are the board members and the top candidate. And even then, the candidate might not know yet... or if they do, they might not be allowed to give anything away.

You're right though, everyone wants to be the first person to reveal who it is, which means people make statements based on chuff all in the hope they strike gold.

Unfortunately for the Adver, they have to be seen to be on top of things, but the club are giving them nothing. Or it could be that the Adver do know, but the club haven't agreed all terms with candidate and aren't allowing them to divulge yet, though I doubt this.

In short, it's all bollox and the wait goes on. I just hope it's worth it. Would be very underwhelming if we get someone outside of the three everyone thinks it is. Again, that's the danger of Twitter!

Seems to me the fault here is with the Adver. It's their non-stories that have set the expectation around timelines etc when they can't even make their minds up whether Hamann's a candidate/been approached/actually exists.
